YT-2400+VCX-100 crew choice help

By Vitalis, in X-Wing Squad Lists

So i wanna run SuperDash + chep VCX this sunday on tournament and while whole list i pretty set i need help choosing the crewmemebers for both ships. So maybe the list first:

Dash

+PtL,HLC,Title,EU,CREW

Lothal Rebel

+FCS,Hera,CREW

Pretty standard superdash, blus cheap blunt as hammer VCX, now crewmembers i wonder about

Dash:

-Kanan : obvious reasons, especially aces are heavy in my area, and i know ill face at least 1 3xuboat. So pure mobility

-Kyle: another obvious. Versatile choice.

-Ezra: as Dash gonna be stressed anyway: free crit from HLC is never bad. Offensive choice

VCX:

-Ezra: VCX gonna be stressed even more than Dash so obvious choice for damage output. I can fit tactical jammer with ezra. Maybe will come usefull for covering dash, and i dont care about bid with 7 and 3 ps.

-Chewbacca: purely defensive, but it brings VCX to 18HP with ability to cancel some nasty crit. 100pts so no more upgrades to VCX.

-Han: with TL from FCS can come usefull. Basically im wondering about any usefull 2pts crew member here to fit autoblaster. Just in case someone strays into r1.

Plan is for the VCX to die. But it has to make some room for dash to finish up. So it either need to hit like freightrain (Ezra, Han+ABT) or survive as long as it posibbly can (Chewie). For Dash im leaning towards Kanan for this sick mobility, but for VCX im stuck. All 3 choices looks reasonable to me.

Kanan for Dash, Erza for VCX

I would recommend swapping Lothal rebel and FCS for Hera pilot and intel agent+Nien Numb for Crew and put Kanan on Dash. Intel to see where enemy is going and then her ability to change her mind to get into/out of a good/bad position. Kanan will help both ships drop stress easy.

Personal preference would be drop EU from Dash and take adv Sensors or a Dorsal turret, but that's just my bias againts EU.

I played similar list some time ago at SC, with Kyle on Dash, and Chopper with Han and Hera (plus FCS, no turret).

The problem was that there was no 360 arc for Ghost, and the R1 for Dash, hence I am now swapping HLC for Mangler and Dorsal turret on Ghost. And I will change Kyle to Kanan, as I found mobility much more important then the free focus, but so much predictable movements..

Here's how I'm doing it.

Dash

Kanan

Outrider

HLC

PTL

Engine

Lothal

Hera

Ezra

Dorsal

I figure this way I'm always throwing at minimum 6 dice, and in some cases 7 or 8. I also think this list is really ideal for running Debris as opposed to Asteroids.

My tried-and-true build was Dash (PTL, Kanan, HLC, EU, Outrider) and "Chopper" (FCS, Hera, Han, and Ghost). Served me well over the course of 9 rounds, going 8 and 1 and bringing home a store championship.

Depending upon your playstyle, and ships you expect to run against, other recommendations in response to your post might serve you better. However, just wanted to provide something that worked. Good luck in your tournament.

Dash Rendar (36)

Push the Limit (3)

Heavy Laser Cannon (7)

Kanan Jarrus (3)

Engine Upgrade (4)

Outrider (5)

Lothal Rebel (35)

Fire-Control System (2)

Autoblaster Turret (2)

Flechette Torpedoes (2)

"Chopper" (0)

Hera Syndulla (1)

Guidance Chips (0)

Total: 100

Thanks for posting all these options. Been considering a Dash/Ghost list and this gives me a lot of options.

Why Han not Ezra? You tried to keep VCX unstressed? Cause my usually flies with tons of stress and i find ezra nicer for this initial shot without TL if im forced to swich targets or so. Was Han consistent? And was Chopper blocking worth it?

This is the build i'm gonna use once i get the Ghost

Lothal Rebel (35)
Fire-Control System (2)
Proton Torpedoes (4)
"Chopper" (0)
Hera Syndulla (1)
Guidance Chips (0)
Dash Rendar (36)
Push the Limit (3)
Heavy Laser Cannon (7)
Kanan Jarrus (3)

Outrider (5)

Hera+Chopper is a must imo, Hera+Ezra is good too but not as point efficent as Hera+Chopper, with FCS and Chopper you can have Focus and TL while stressed for those situations where you need the damage to go in. Kanan is THE crew you have to put on Dash.
You could also swap Protorps for Flechettorps and EM if you like 2 turns of weaker rear attacks better but since you can K-Turn every turn i don't think the are really needed. You could also go for a Dorsal Turret if you like 360° arcs more than auxiliary arcs although you get a lot weaker attacks.

Could someone explain the reason Kanan is required?

Or, you could downgrade the Proton to Flechette and hook up the Autoblaster turret, which is invaluable vs Palp Aces. Gotta cover your flanks against tricky arc dodgers, imho.

Dorsal Turret is not scary to Inquis or Soontir. Autoblaster Turret is scary. Contrary to popular belief, it's very accurate with FCS and a focus token. You do not need accuracy corrector to run it.

Also, the Flechette Torp becomes a threat to Fel. He can no longer hang out in your primary arc or rear arc at any range, without risking either Autoblaster Turret or a second stress. Leaves little room to hide.

You PtL and then can use almost your entire dial to clear with a white.

Really boosts Dash's ability to stay at range and jump around the board.

Went 3-1 in the swiss rounds of a spring tournament, making the cut at 4th on points (Should have been 4-0 but I had a brain slip and said the wrong pilot name when I was shooting in round 4. Had I said the right name, I would've won that game too)

Dash

Kanan

PTL

Outrider

Heavy Laser Cannon

Dorsal Turret

Hera

Ezra

I can't stress enough how important that Dorsal Turret ended up being. Even with Hera and good placement every now and again you just need to make the shot outside of the arc, It was especially useful against the Tie swarm I fought against. I only faced triple U boats once - after the cut - and he popped off Hera with Boba. I almost won the game, came down to predicting his moves twice. Once I guessed right, the second time I didn't. Got 1 Boat dead, one to half, and took 2 shields off the other. With more practice against the list, and with the above list, I think I could've taken the day. All in all, great list, quite possibly the best rebel list in the game right now.

Can Kanan target his own ship?

Yes, the wording is "a friendly ship at range 1-2". Similar to Jan Ors crew. If it said "another friendly ship at range 1-2" then he wouldnt work on his own ship.
