Rogue One: Anyone modeling an ISD-I?

By Norsehound, in Star Wars: Armada

I assume you mean the Communications array?

It looked like in the new shot that the array was elevated - it has a similar 'x' shaped piece holding it up, but the array is still horizontal...

I tried mounting it the way you suggest, and apart from the fact it was super flimsy, the piece doesn't resemble it at all... because its so wide and thin in comparison.

The mount is temporary, I'll be trying to scratch-build something better...

I ahvn't yet emphasised the Tractor-Emitters on the Underside yet, either...

Fantastically done. But it makes my wallet wince, adding almost the price of the ISD again onto the original...

BUT, it is fantastically done, so I'm sure you'll get takers.

I only put the "Extreme" material just because people ask for it... but I dont think that material is worth it. The other one is more reasonable.

Totally agree... But I was also factoring in the Shipping and Exchange for me... :D

Its adding $50 to a $60 Ship...

Sooooooo, going to wait for at least a Shapeways shipping Sale... Since I can't do anything else about the Exchange :D

Also, do you think we'll make people think we're one person talking to ourselves, since we share the same Avatar?

Well, you ARE indeed talking to yourself. I am your conscience. We havent talked in a while...

Duuuude... I thought that Drunken Rampage in the SGTs mess of RAAF ESL after POFF Foat's para-accident killed you... Where you been hiding?!

Ive just remembered why stopped talking to you...

Booyah! Livin' life without Regret! WOO!

So. Very. Tempted.

Time to put the last of my IG armor on eBay so I can combine the ISD-I with some Gozanti and some fighter squadrons.

Just wondering, what's the difference between an ISD-I and ISD-II?

I just want the turret upgraded look! Do the turrets fit over the original turrets? Or do we need to sand down the old and glue the upgraded turrets in it place?

Looks great Mel! If I ever get a steady income that'll be one thing I pick up... though I'll need a new ISD...

I think the intention is to fit the turrets over the 8 ones. Really you can do whatever you want with those turrets... that they simply exist is a boon. So you can paste them on top, or do something dramatic like cutting out that panel, building a new one, and sitting that on top before placing the new turrets on top. You can make the new pannel out of ordinary plasticard but those turrets and in that scale can't be found anywhere.

And I hate to be a sitckler but I think the bridge back spine is also different. However this kit is more than we've had anyway, thanks for making it available Mel!

The turrets can be glued on top of the originals because they are supposed to stand out. But I would recomend sanding it a little bit just to get a more flat surface there.

I know... there are other stuff that I couldnt make because it would be impossible to replace (without heavy modding). Another difference between the ISD-I and the ISD-II is the amount of ribs on the hangar bay. The ISD-I has eight ribs.

Just wondering, what's the difference between an ISD-I and ISD-II?

The guys at Lucasfilm redid the model from A New Hope to Empire Strikes Back. The original model was smaller and thus had less detail. Overall the detailing changes but its nothing major. The biggest differences are:

BRIDGE TOWER
The targeting array goes from vertical in the ISD-I to horizontal in the ISD-II
The two big shield generators are perpendicular to the surface on the ISD-I and just vertical in the ISD-II

The overall detail of the bridge is different.
As Norsehound said, the back of the neck is also different.

TURRETS

The eight main turrets are very different. The ISD-I stand out more and there are two different types.

There are also some dorsal turrets in the middle

You also have some turrets on the trench on the sides

ENGINES

The thrusters have 3 small flaps on the ISD-I

HANGAR BAYS

The main hangar bay has 8 ribs on the ISD-I and 7 on the ISD-II

The secondary bay has the hanger on the aft wall on the ISD-I and on the forward on the ISD-II

COLOR

Also the overall color and proportions are slightly different. The ISD-I is whiter. Thats why the ISD that appears on the Rogue One trailer feels so white.

One other difference on the ISD 1 is the slight raised section of hull around main battery turbolasers. On the ISD2 you can see how each side has the 4 heavy turbolaser turrets that have 8 heavy turbolaser barrels each and how they are almost built into a slight raised area that is above the main hull. On the ISD1 the 3 heavy turbolaser turrets and the heavy ion cannon turret are surrounded by a raised section of the hull that is much different. It's hard to describe but look at the 2 models around the side main turrets and you will see how the raised section differs from the main hull on the 2 models. I really like that Rogue One is giving us a much better detailed ISD 1 to really compare the differences.

******** it Mel, I just recived my order, and now you are making me build another one already. Give a man's wallet a break please.

PS. I LOVE MY MISSILE BOAT MEL!

The question is whether I'm strong enough to wait the week eBay will take before I order the ISD-1 kit and a few Defender squadrons. Somehow I doubt it. :D
