I really like it. The crazier designs really appeal to me. Especially when compared to the fairly "normal" Rebel ships like the A-Wing.
Does anyone else hate the look of the Punishing One?
The asymmetry is silly, but that's not such a big deal. Its silly on the falcon as well but that's a cool ship. No, my main complaint is that the bottom of the main fuselage is flat! Why?! Make it rounded like the top! If would have made it pop more, make the rest of the ship make more sense! Instead you not only get left/right asymmetry, but top bottom asymmetry as well! Its gross!
That being said its still a neat ship.
I thought it looked cool
At first I thought it looked terrible. Then I saw a repainted version, jet black with green cockpit windows. I now want three of my own.
It is the ship that has finally got me interested in Scum and Villainy.
Those are mine! ![]()

I am shamelessly stealing the paint scheme. I'm also giving them cloaking devices, just because it suits the scheme.
I don't like the model either, but not for its asymmetry.
I just don't like how cheap the ship looks. Maybe a thicker disc would have done it for me... I dunno.

Post a picture?
To the topic at hand it is by far the best looking ship in the game.
my friend calls it the Toilet Seat....
i think thats fitting lol.
I'd say the Sith Infiltrator is not the best pick of proxy, though: It's heavily armed with plenty of forward-firing batteries, is certainly not an assymetrical dial, and, uh, he's a sith. Prequel or not, he'd land firmly in the Imperial camp, not Scum.
Unless you want him in an opposing faction to his boss, after all.
I will not spoil anything but I encourage you to watch Rebels.
But non-imperial-ever sure would be a touch odd.
The Jumpmaster ship is like your mom, she doesn't look like much but she's got it where it counts.

I'd say the Falcon is a good bit more symmetrical except for the cockpit location. I've even heard a fairly decent reason for that; being all the way over to the one side it makes visibility on that side much better so docking maneuvers on that side will work better. On the Jumpmaster it's not over far enough to make that reasoning work and then it lacks symmetry in pretty much every way.
To me it looks like a cargo container goes in the middle of the Jump Master and it pulls it along. The Falcon looks like it connects to cargo containers and pushes them; that's why the cockpit is of set.
How's this for cool? Wouldn't it be awesome if FFG came out with cargo containers for both?
I'm not sure how to post photos here if someone is on the Facebook Mods and repaints could they post a pic of them.

I saw pics of magnetized cargo containers on a jumpmaster...I think on one of the mods fb groups. It looked amazing.
From a thrust and flight mechanics standpoint, it is an absolute nightmare, and the designer should be subject to a thousand paper cuts on his drafting paper, then rolled in lemon juice and salt, and kicked down a path of glass shards.
However, things don't have to make technical sense in this universe, so to hell with it. In pure astethics, it's fine. It's interesting, but nothing mind blowing. They're not going to cover it on an episode of Grand Designs, but there are far more visually horrifying designs in the universe.
More likely to be featured in "Incredible Engineering Fiascos".
Like I said, Grand Designs. How many times have the windows ever fit the house on that show? It's literally part of the drinking game for it.

The reason for the offset cockpit is actually more mundane. Originally the model was going to land horizontally, but fly vertically. This would result in the cockpit being up top, and the turrets firing sideways. The cockpit would rotate to match orientation. The idea to have it horizontal in flight was down to Lucas thinking it simply looked better. They decided to leave the cockpit as is because the redesign to centralise it would have added time to the shoot they didn't have, since that would have been the third redesign of the model (the CR90 was the original Falcon, believe it or not).
I cant stand it.
I just freaking want MORE assymmetric ships!
I mean you could fill up that gap with a cargo carrier, which is the only reason that ship would make sense, like its some kind of space 18-wheeler that has a standard rectangle cargo connection. I really don't like it at all.
For real - I can't fathom why *NONE* of the FFG art for the Jumpmaster portrayed it as the only logical thing that made sense for the design. IE., some kind of 'space freight hauler'.
Heck, no fan art does, either!
Bizarre!
It makes such a ridiculous amount of sense portrayed that way...

...I am astonished I can find no examples of anyone doing so (better than the above 30-second Photoshop hack job to demonstrate the concept)?
Edited by xanderfThere's nothing wrong with the design,

I cant stand it. Of all the wonky ship designs from star wars this one looks like someone glued an Apollo 6 to a half eaten Frisbee. Which makes sense, cause when I saw Empire Strikes back, in the theatre as a child, I was in awe of all the bounty hunters! Boba Fett! The killer robot (IG88), that half droid half insect! They were all scary! Except for that dude with the bandages on his head. I never got Dengar's action figure. Don't trust a bounty hunter wrapped in bandages.
I think I am going to proxy a Sith Infiltrator in instead. I found the Revel Easykit Sith Infiltrators are 1/270 scale and just about the same size as the Punishing One. As long as I don't take them to a tournament (which has the chance between slim and none), I should be fine. Now I have to photoshop the Dengar cards into Darth Maul.
It looks like a bitten donought pierced by a dildo. So yea, not a fan either. ![]()

This! A hundred times! This!
Then it all makes sense!
well its better than the space butterfly... or the cartoonish paint scheme on the ghost. i like the looks of the ghost just not the bright paint. but the space butterfly is just goofy/ugly to me..lol
I hate all asymmetrical ship designs.
The Punishing One may not be the best looking ship, but it is still much better than both the Ghost and Phantom, they are both too toylike and the Force forgive me, cartoonish.
However I'm biased against them, I have personally found Star Wars Rebels not to my taste.
You're not the only one.
Even (shudder) Clone Wars was better.
