Today would have been a great day to announce a Bounty Hunter book.

By Simon Retold, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

If you have a Commander character at all it's pretty focused on Leadership and likely mass combat, so for that it's pretty terrific. It's a bit more niche, but for its part its good. I thought Instructor was a pretty good all around PC to have in any group.

Every day is a great day to announce a bounty hunter book...

I say nay. Never understood the fascination with a EotE career based on this guy

When you want to create an army, you clone a SOLDIER. When you want a team to attack or defend a village, you contract with mercenaries i.e. HIRED GUNS.

When you want to run down some low-life who skipped bail leaving his family and friends on the hook for the bond... THEN you hire a bounty hunter. That's what they do.

Except Star Wars has always romanticized bounty hunters and made them feel badass.

Plus, a lot of them are also mercenaries and soldiers and highly-trained assassins.

Reality television has about a realistic portrayal of things as Star Wars does.

Welllll... I don't know about that. Let's look at Boba Fett's record, shall we?

He didn't capture Han; he let Vader do that. (Yes, Vader was going off of Fett's info, but still...) Then he was defeated by a blind man flailing about aimlessly while calling out the Bounty Hunter's name.

Romanticized? The fans did that. Badass? The EU did that. Bounty Hunters in Star Wars (with the exception of maybe Cad Bane) are second fiddle Hired Guns.

Your point? This is all EU/Legends, and FFG has taken the hardened badass approach to their bounty hunters. Plus, plenty of fans want a book and enjoy the Legends - and starting to be canon - awesomeness of bounty hunters.

Not to mention the Boba Fett Star Wars Story film will probably put some of the Legends feel into canon.

When you want to run down some low-life who skipped bail leaving his family and friends on the hook for the bond the most dangerous criminals in the galaxy that the usual law enforcement channels are unable to deal with... THEN you hire a bounty hunter. That's what they do.

Fixed for you lol. I like the description in the Bounty Hunter Code. They aren't mercenary thugs, they aren't paid killers. They're professional law enforcement agents. They're the law you can't escape.

So?

Doesn't mean there shouldn't be a sourcebook for them anyway.

Aye! Any day is a good day for a bounty hunter source book!

Savage Spirits is on the boat today I see..........that's step in the right direction....

... as long as it's not the same boat that 'Strongholds of Resistance' arrived on...

For someone from an island with a strong maritime history you show a disturbing mistrust of waterborne transport systems!

Another week goes by, more sad faces :( :( :(
