Don't forget to Recycle as you unbox!

By Rebelinst, in X-Wing

I finished unboxing and organizing my wave 8 additions and had a mountain debris left over when i was all done. Blister bubbles, cardboard, packaging graphics... its was insane. I had it all in a trash bag and was about to toss it in that garbage when i realized, all of this stuff is recyclable! Please remember to dispose of the leftover stuff properly. Thanks!

And knowing is half the battle

Off Topic 3,2,1...

To be fair, there's a tragically high amount of packaging for what amounts to a few cards, chits and a small plastic model.

But I want my carbon footprint to be as big as possible so people in the future will remember me.

Is the plastic recyclable? No stamp to show whether it is PET or what. I do recycle the carboard bits but not sure about the plastic.

yes, my blisters where stamped.

Around here they only recycle #1 & #2 plastic. I'm not sure but I think the plastic in the expansions is either #3 or #4 plastic.

And knowing is half the battle

The other half is red and blue lasers.

Exactly! How are the (hypothetical) future archaeologists to discover X-Wing if we don't have enough packing examples in the landfills?

Or in this case, red and green. ;)

As an Archaeologist, I would assume everyone will be buried with their xwing models. Grave goods are great indicators.

I just tried to RT this because I don't have enough coffee.

People need to be reminded?

Glass, plastic (and tin cans, and plastic lined milk and other drink cartons), paper, organic, chemical and 'other', it's all separated and collected here. And by here, I mean the city, and most of the nation.

I usually get 1 shipment of a Wave, and try to unbox everything at once. So I pull all the boxes out of the shipping box, then use that box to hold all the garbage bits until I am ready to head to the recycle bins outside my home.

I have a large craft paper bag in the basement that holds the small cardboard, paper towel rolls and anything that resembles card stock. Every month or so I take it to recycling. My garbage can usually contains 2 bags of garbage for the month.

I keep all the packaging (by which I mean the boxes and plastic blisters).

One day I will have enough, and I will light the biggest fire the North has ever seen...

I use it all for storage so if I should decide to sell my stuff I'd have an easy time breaking everything apart to make more money on it. Not that I plan on doing so, but who knows when times get rough.

Great idea, looks like it's time to update my will.

I make a big pile in the back yard surrounded by small stones.

I then place a Darth Vader action figure on top, douse it with Kerosene and light it, while listening to the Return of the Jedi Soundtrack.

I am the "recycle guy" at my FLGS. When people open their packaging at the store they give it to me to throw in my recycle bins. I had to talk to my wife about this to convince her I was not buying extra ships.

Seriously... its on the level of militant xwing over here.

As someone who works in sustainability, this post gladdens me immensely.

I sent every blister to a recicle station in my home city. I believed it was the right thing to do

... and when the recycle truck picks up the recycling, it spews black smoke out it's exhaust. Carbon equal???
