Many Bothans died to bring this to you

I just want to paint that ISD red and chant: BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD! :D

Took me a sec to realise what you where talking about, but now I can't unsee it.

SKULLS FOR THE SKULL THRONE!

I think people need to stop worrying over something that really isn't an issue. Star Wars is a franchise that has always had numerous female characters, both minor and supporting roles; so lets not get crazy and say women are under-represented in Star Wars. That being said, since there hasn't been a true female lead role until TFA, I think it was good to have and I'm really excited for Rogue One in December!!

Oh, I would say that women have been underrepresented in Star Wars, even if I would also say that Star Wars was a little ahead of the curve of its time.

I would also agree with the conservative side that it is absolutely intentional on Disney's part. The difference, I suppose, is that I agree with the intention.

I've also heard the criticism from the more inclusiveness side that it's yet another nice-looking young white (female) lead, rather than someone from an even less included grouping. While I'm generally in agreement with the inclusiveness, as a privileged heterosexual cisgender white middle-class male I also have to say that my eyes don't mind having my privilege catered to.

While we're on it, I'd like to see Rae Sloane, a nice-looking black female villain*. At this stage in the timeline, she'd probably have made Captain.

* Though, as an Imperial partisan, I'd have to say that she's a hero not a villain.

I'm going to stand by my assumption that this is Wulf Yularen. That would just be so freakin cool.

Also, how many think that this Jyn Ersa is just a restructuring of Jan Ors, and avoiding the original name because of some reason.

I'm also going with the idea that the dark cowled figure who kneels before that white beam of light thingy (holo thingy?) is Vader... however this could certainly be someone else, just not the Emperor.

Rank insignia is of a Fleet Admiral

Not going to be Tarkin as From the Tarkin section on wikipedia there's this snippet -

"In late August 2015, it was reported that the deceased Peter Cushing would be digitally resurrected via CGI to appear in the role once again for Rogue One."

Probably someone brand new for the movie

Black robed person, Inquisitor maybe?

Well I have two daughters and for them I'm stoked that there is a great female character!

Preview looks great. Glad to see what appears to be a very deliberate use of episode 4s ships and uniforms etc.

Will be interesting to see how they carry the credibility of a "street kid" managing to infiltrate the death star project as an Imperial, but I'm sure it will all be awesome.

I'm guessing the gentleman in white is going to be ISB. He will be in charge of protecting the Death Star from spies. When he fails, Vader will do what Vader does, and Wulff Yularen (whom Vader will know as a Clone War Navy veteran) will be installed in this guy's place, but not yet promoted to this fellow's rank.

But that's just my guess.

I didn't mean to sounds like the intentionality was a bad thing, as I pointed out, I think the female lead is a good thing. As for the underrepresentation issue, we'll probably have to agree to disagree, which is totally fine; we are both allowed our respective opinions on the matter!

It's a prequel.

... so, y'know, fair warning. :P

The person at 1:18 has a hood over his head so I don't think it Vader.

Oh snaaaawp Kylo Ren found the pumped out tie fighter with a flux capacitor.

when George ruined Vader's redemption scene with his "noooooo." Something clicked in me wherein everything after the THX revision was abhorrent and evil. I since scoured ebay for the DVD's of the theatrical release (bad laser disc quality included- at least Han shoots first!)

Check out Adawyn's "Star Wars: Revisited", it basically fixes the special editions and does everything they should have done, and undos everything they shouldn't have. His edit of a new hope instantly became my favorite version, and his edit of empire should be out soon.

You mean Anakin Skywalker is presented as a respectable Jedi hero who switches sides for reasons we can empathize with instead of a shoehorned romantic subplot?

Nah, that footage/design doesn't exist, whooooops

So far he is only re-editing the original trilogy.

He says he has plans for the prequels that will radically change them. We'll see. He been working on Empire for years and years now.

Star Wars Revisited is what the "Special Edition" should have been! I can hardly wait to see what Empire Strikes Back Revisited will look like. Probably 3 or 4 scenes that will make me wonder why G.L. couldn't figure that out.

Yeah, I've seen that. My only complaint is with the battle of yavin. He added all of these CG tie fighters. I loved that there were only 9 ties at the battle and they still took down approximately 25 fighters. It made Black squadron so much more intimidating.

My biggest problem with SE Empire was the extra hatch they added to the Falcon when Lando goes out to save Luke. Yes, his emergence up top in the original film was basically a continuity error, BUT I KNOW THAT NEW HATCH IS FAKE!!!

unless they next 2-3 movies all have female leads as well, then we are getting into territory for another discussion. However, we know that isn't the case, since we are getting a Boba Fett movie in the near future as well!

Plot twist, Boba was transgender woman.

(no, that would be bad for everyone)

The switiching of Anakin was pretty could be "empathized" if you could switch a bit out of you own mind set. He didnt switched sides only because of his not tolerated, secret romanic realtion through a whole trilogy, but also the steady maniplulation of Sidious and the harsh treatment of the Jedi Council that didnt worked well with his VERY emotional state of mind.

Based on this image if it is Wulf he is holding a higher rank in Rogue One than he was in ANH

Three ranks, not one.

My room mate turns to me, and no joke; said he was kinda iffy about another female lead.

I walked away.

How can you be both transgender and a woman? Doesn't transgender imply that you're beyond the classic man/woman gender split?
