Many Bothans died to bring this to you

Not a big fan of the new switch to female warrior type leads in the new movies however, it just smacks of pc inclusiveness versus a valid plot point.

Side note Star Wars has had some believe females within rebels and te prequels.

So what is the structure in between the shield pods on the ISD? Are we seeing a new model?

That is actually how the original ISD looked in Episode 4 A New Hope. The mid sensor tower is much higher than the ISD 2's in The Empire Strikes Back. You will also notice other differences in the look of the command tower where the bridge is at and there are axial turrets just before the start of the command decks.

Most of her team is still male. As a real soldier, I hardly find it PC. It's called realism for me. While women have to work harder to get to the same physical level as men, it's not anywhere near as big a stretch as civilian men seem to think. I know plenty that can hold their own in combat and a handful that can kick my ass with ease.

The dirty secret of modern warfare is that it also doesn't matter all that much either. A pilot is a pilot. A gun is just as lethal in anyone's hands. Glad Hollywood is figuring out the same thing we are as an Army.

this. all of this.

No Vader.

ermmmmm

Who's at 1:18 then?

(no I dont know... it looks like it could be vader)

its not the moff you see earlier who's wearing a white cloak.....

In fairness, I was listening without sound, so I missed it.

Any sign of Alan Tudyk? I didn't see him.

I think his character was running in one shot.

ISD-I. Hit that yo.

I guess it's too bad FFG won't release an updated model: the axial turrets (and general preponderance of turrets) makes it the far better model, IMNSHO.

Squeezing the trigger, whether it's on a small arm or weapon console of a fighter is a very very small part of war and combat.

Here's a more appropriate rhetorical anecdote I like to ask/present to all my wife's girl-power friends when they ask me about my time in the Marine Corps and why I don't think women should be in it.

A man goes without a shower for 4 days: vacation.

A woman goes without a shower for 4 days: torture.

Discuss.

Anyway, back to the trailer. I think it looks awesome, and I don't care that there is a female lead, nor did I really care TFA had a female lead. I *did* care that Rae was a Mary Sue, but the same problem can be shared by dudes in movies, and in fact any movie that features such a character will immediately get a scowl from me despite the sex of the protagonist.

Torture, until she over comes her conditioning that her worth is inexorably intertwined with her looks.......

I didn't realize he was doing motion capture for this until today, so I'm betting he's the droid in this shot:

Yes! Yes!! Yes!!! YEEESSSSSS!!!!!!!

I think I got an Stargasm when I saw the Trailer

Wow, it looks great! Definitely appears to be a movie marketed directly to this group of people. Some thoughts:

I think Alan Tudyk is the voice of the droid. He's behind Jyn (Daisy Ridley) at 0:28

This is the most "real" looking Star Wars so far. I'm happy about that.

The alarm sound spells danger but reminds me of the trailer for Prometheus and the music in Inception ("Braaam!")

I just realized that Donnie Yen is the Ip Man. That means its time for some Sci-Fi flying fists of fury.

I hope the Imperial commander is a new character, ISB or no.

Who's in the hood bowing? Why are there Royal Guards? Is the Emperor going to be in this too?

Vader will be involved in some way. Lucas film needs to redeem his last scene in the OT/PT trilogies..."Noooooo!"

Get ready for some more Armada content! Right? Gotta happen. New stuff set in the OT timeline. Too good an opportunity to pass up. Right? Right, FFG? Right?!

I'm excited about this.

For the record: when the EU made "bothan" a species I was kind of surprised. I had imagined it to be like a title or something.

That's because the EU is the Reverse-Midas of the Star Wars universe. Everything it touches turns to muck.

(With the exception of KOTOR, 'Jedi Knight 2: Jedi Outcast', the X-Wing and TIE Fighter series, the first two Battlefronts and 'Star Wars: Starfighter')

and wraith squadron.

I will tell you when I was 16 I worked at a restaurant that was run by two ladies, one night there as a fight in the bar area. My boss picked up most of the men who stared the fight and threw them out side of the restaurant no problem. A week later 16 guys showed up to fight a dish washer, she alone went out back and they all ran scared away after 10 minutes. I say this because I think there are some amazing females I have know in my life that could kick the crap out of me In a street fight no problem. I don't think it's PC if the roll fits and she is built for the roll. If it's like the first Diverant Movie that's totally non-believable (sha woodley is a toothpick) if it's like expendables 3 with Roodey yes there is no problem. We will wait and see.

Side note Star Wars has had some believe females within rebels and te prequels.

a bouncer once said :

"when you get between a man and his target he reconsiders, when you get between a woman and her target you become her target."

and yeah people whining about female characters are weird. seems weird that some people cannot relate to 50% of our species because they have a diffirent set of genitalia. I just hope to enjoy good movies regardless of the gender of the lead.

He has the same color and shape of robes as Palpatine, and there are Royal Guards in the room. I'm pretty sure that's Palpatine.

What the heck are you talking about. We have two, just TWO "female warriors", and the newest one is more an "Agent" type. Two hardly makes a rule. And I bet you never spoke about "pc inclusiveness" when we had almost only male character casts (not only "warrior types"). And what valid plot point should it contradict? You surely are not saying, that woman cant be warriors...

Plot point would be something like a planet that was similar to Israel where females served in the military and would then make sense to have good military skills. I also wouldn't have a female be the 'toughest' in the room each time a fight broke out.. It stretches believability too much for me.

or any other military of the frist world and most other nations? What makes you think Star Wars is behind this in any way, despite we know for long that females are part of the Stormtrooper corps and the rebellion. Any fine trained female can easily be the "toughest" in room full of males. Training and individula talents always greatly outweight the predetermination by the sex.

So the question is who is the Imperial in the white cape. I guess it could be Tarkin but his uniform was more olive than this white/grey looking one that was more the look of the ISB. Also his officer medals on his chest are much different then what Tarkin had in Episode 4 with yellow medals. I'm hoping it is someone new.

As others have said the person who appears to be in a black cape with a hood bowing before the white cylinder with the Royal Guards flanking it....I guess it could be Vader but why would he have a hood as he has already got his armor and he never had a hood before. Maybe it's an inquisitor since Rebels have established them?

Would make sense to have a (new) bad ass ISB Character as the main villain in a story about intelligence and counterintelligence.

I don't think its Palpatine. Palpatine wouldn't be bowing to anyone. If anything Palpatine is in or behind that white bacta tank looking thing. I am curious if it is an Inquisitor.

Could it be...?

DARTH JAR JAR?

Isnt that the "imperial Siren Sound" from the original trilogy?

Yeah, but it sounds very similar to the iconic siren-like screeching sound from the original Alien trailer (which Prometheus references). I definitely got that vibe anyhow.

Maybe .......... That's what killed all the Bothans?!

I really really like the trailer. I nearly cried when I saw it. But I am lying in my bed sick and had fever when I saw him and nearly cried for everything i saw that hour....

anyhow.

What I not like in the trailer is that the Stormtroopers are seeingly back to: useless.

Its even worse now: They dont even use their guns, close in on close combat opponents and get beaten down by sticks ("Greetings from Endor")

What I would like to see:

Jyn erso does the job and transfers the plans, but gets captured, torturted and finally broken by the empire and becomes one of its agents:
