Could this one compete with actual meta lists?
Baron of the Empire (25) x 4
TIE Advanced Prototype (19), Push the Limit (3), TIE/v1 (1), Autothrusters (2)

That list will work fine ... until you run into a list of higher pilot skill aces that move after you have to move.
Arc dodgers with push the limit work best when they move last. If you have to move first then you won't be able to line up perfect shots and you'll have to survive hits before you get to shoot.
This list should obliterate most lists with lower pilot skill ships ... if you fly it right and your opponent isn't wise enough to position ships with overlapping arcs for defensive covering fire to hit your arc dodgers after they come in for attack runs.
True, but you can still turtle up against high PS pilots and try to block.
With that dial and with the option to boost + roll you could reach and cover so many possible positions that it is very difficult to predict.

I agree that this is a legitimate tactic. You basically have four the the best small-base blockers in the game. My big concern is jousters that have PS higher than you (or their own blockers to foul up your repositioning). TAPs just don't have much offense to speak of. You're going to have trouble taking things down.
In the battle report section, someone tells about their experience with 4 barons using that same build. If I recall correctly, almost all the games went to time, but due to the fact that they are hard to kill, he did well, winning more games than losing.
I think this build is ultimately better:
Seinar pilot w/ V-1 + autos = 19
2 barons w/ PTL, V-1 + autos = 25 x 2
Inquisitor w/ PTL, V-1 + autos = 31
100
Seinar makes a great blocker vs contracted scouts (who otherwise can have a field day blocking up your higher PS guys). And Inquisitor adds a little extra firepower...

Batrep:
I also took the 4 Barons to the Hoth Open and made it to the second day. I love the Barons, and am taking a variation of it to the Campaign Against Cancer tourney this weekend.
Edited by DroidloverNice report.
There is not much space to vary the list, given that you really take 4 Barons.
So like Juke + Stealth Device
Or Juke and Prockets (w/o ATs)
for more possible damage and less defence ...
I like Juke/Title/AT at the basic build for BotEs. Add tracers to all of them so they can get their locks in early rounds if need be, or add Prockets to one of them to give him a bigger punch.
The problem with thread tracers is the locks arrive after aces have fired - so you're wasting the TIE/v1 title.
Equally, Juke with Proton Rockets is a bit of a waste - you need to get a focus to arm the rockets....so no target lock....so no evade....so no Juke.
Juke & Stealth Device isn't a bad pairing, but Autothrusters are just so good for the fast & fragile.
Maybe take them with Juke, Title & autothrusters and just swap one up for Valen Rudor?
I still think the PTL squad is probably one of the best, if only for flexibility.
Edited by Magnus Grendelyou're running around with four 2-dice ships that don't even have anti-green dice tech
you're not getting very far

That's certainly another option I thought about.
I think Juke or Crack Shot is really essential on any elite generic with only two dice. You have to be able to punch through defences or youre getting nowhere.

Not remotely - the evade tokens from /v1 aren't there to get you evades on the dice, they're there to get you Juke. You lose one guy's low-mod 2-die primary to give evades and locks to the other three, and as a reasult get three hopefully fully-modded (you might have spent your focus already I guess) shots with Juke, two of which have essentially a built in crack shot as long as you're punching the same target and it's not Luke, Poe, or someone with multiple focus tokens or defensive rerolls. And you can repeat this three more times in three more rounds if nothing dies.
Edited by thespaceinvaderI've got a feeling that Backstabber, Mauler Mithel, Zeta Leader, and Omega Leader, all with a bunch of upgrades will outlast and outdamage 4 Barons.
And I think Juke is the way to go with the v1 title, but you'd have to buy 4 TIE/fos.

Yeah, Juke is not brilliant on the TAP. It works on a TIE/FO ONLY because of comm relay. It also will work on a TIE defender with the new X-7 title, but ONLY because its a free evade token.
That's the rub: if you have to take evade every turn in order to enable Juke, you are not going to be able to use it as often as you'd like, and you won't be able to maximize your damage because you can never stack that Target Lock with a focus token AND benefit from Juke. So yeah, its meh at best on the TAP....
