Scum Aces X U-Boats

By Reaver027, in X-Wing Squad Lists

So i am no good Sqd builder. Just do it for fun from time to time.

But after watchig the results of the Hoth Tournament and reading a thread concerning ships that can take over a game i was thinking that i could perhaps combine both.

So this is what i came up with.

Guri (39)
StarViper
talent.png Push the Limit title.png Virago modification.png Autothrusters system.png Advanced Sensors
Contracted Scout (35)
JumpMaster 5000
torpedo.png Proton Torpedoes torpedo.png Extra Munitions crew.png Boba Fett salvaged_astromech.png R4 Agromechtalent.png Deadeyemodification.png Guidance Chips
Binayre Pirate (13)
Z-95 Headhunter
illicit.png Inertial Dampeners
Binayre Pirate (13)
Z-95 Headhunter
illicit.png Inertial Dampeners

The two Zs are equipped with Dampeners for more blocking potential. Not sure if that is worth the extra point but since other lists go down to 97 already to get initiative so i did not want to waste the two points. The idea was kinda cute anyway.

I like that Guri build, but its not easy to use well. If you are very experienced with PTL + adv sensor shenanigans than it is fun and unpredictable (basically, you use sensors and Push for 2 actions then reveal green move to clear stress---don't do it every turn though or it does get predictable).

Instead of inertial dampeners, I would suggest putting a flechette torpedo on Guri. It will be useful more than the dampeners. With push the limit, its easy for Guri to grab a TL at some point. Fire the flechettes at R3 to deny +1 agility, or use it as a threat to scare the crap out of other Push the limit ships (like Soontir). Just remember that it doesn't work well against 5 hull ships (like Dash and u-boats for example).

Yeah flechette torpedos might just be better. Was looking at those and Glitterstim myself.

Glitterstim is a nice "get out of jail" card for an ace if you get caught.

Another idea was to upgrade the torpedos on the scout to adv proton torpedos or use plasma torpedos on both Guri and the scout.

Kinda incredible how much you can do with so little wiggle room.

I really like this list. Love Guri. Here's my variant:

Guri (Predator, Virago title, Sensor Jammer, Autothrusters)

Contracted Scout (Deadeye, Plasma Torpedoes, Extra Munitions, R4 Agromech, Guidance Chips, Boba)

Black Sun Soldier x2

100 points

So a now-classic Guri, Plasma Torps and BSSs instead of the Binayre Pirates. So you lose the blocking options but get to fire before most low-PS swarmy lists.

Yeah your list is more tuned vs low PS and swarm list.

I like the idea upgrading the Zs. Another good option.

Depending on how the meta changes after Hoth both lists might be viable or complete garbage

imo, PTL starvipers really aren't worth the 7(!) points you put into enabling them. Guri would be just as effective with just predator at half the cost

Neither she nor Xizor are aces in the imperial sense, as much as they're B-wings that can actually take hits, go fast, and surprise the hell out of your opponent by jousting or bumping into things and not giving a crap

also in my experience, Boba isn't super great unless you're running into a lot of Dash or Dengar. What is super great, though, is 4-lom (crew). He kicks in during the modify dice step (So you can see your opponent's pre-mod roll before ionizing yourself) and because your a large ship, you need to use him twice to see any drawbacks.

35 point guri and 35 point scout fit snugly with two feedback Blacksun soldiers

Wow. I am working on a list similar to this. Except I have some other ideas to support Guri and the Scout. I started working on it last night. I'm trying to fit in Cluster Missile and Guidance Chips on the z-95's. I love Guri and the Starviper is my favorite ship in the game. So I hope to have mine done soon.

I've yet to try a munitions u-boat but I might try it this weekend. So far I've gone the punishing one route. I love Guri, though typically I'll employ sensor jammers (easy to counter but surprisingly it stymies a lot of people) and vet instincts (the 5 pilot sill can be troublesome against large turret aces). Admittedly, I need to start trying push the limit and advanced sensors most as I see great potential in them but never get around to it. The idea of push the limit with advanced sensors and a green maneuver is something that really hadn't occurred to me.

I like the idea to put feedback arrays on the Zs.

But i like my Guri as is. So in order to shave off the 2 points needed i could go with a 33 points scout. Plasma instead of proton and overclocked instead of agromech.
