Poe Dameron

By RC8015FiSkirata, in X-Wing Squad Lists

So, I'm trying to build a list that makes full use of Poe's ability, and came up with the following idea. It's slightly modified from the original idea, which ran afoul of the luck mechanic (two rolls of three dice that were all hits/crits and two rolls of three dice that were all blanks, killing Poe in one turn). Any feedback? Thanks.

Kyle Katarn (21)
Veteran Instincts (1)
Twin Laser Turret (6)
Recon Specialist (3)
Shield Upgrade (4)
Moldy Crow (3)
Poe Dameron (31)
Crack Shot (1)
R2-D2 (4)
Weapons Guidance (2)
Shield Upgrade (4)
Airen Cracken (19)
Veteran Instincts (1)
Total: 100

Here is a list I ran at a local tournement recently and did pretty well. I won 3/4 games and came 3rd place overall. The game I lost was because my opponent and I were down to 1 ship each when we ran out of time. Mine was a full-health Red Ace, his was Poe with no shields and 1 hull point left. If we had played one more turn, I would probably have blown Poe away but as Poe was worth 2 points more than Red Ace, my opponent won when time was called. :P

Anyway, it works pretty well although it is cut fairly lean. The trick is that a single regening ship can usually be brought down with focused fire if your opponent concentrates. Killing 2 with the same ability is much harder and 1 will almost certainly survive to the end game, even if the other does not.

35 Poe Dameron (31) - T-70 X-Wing

Veteran Instincts (1), R5-P9 (3), IA (0)

36 Red Ace (29) - T-70 X-Wing

R2 D2 (4), IA (0), Comms relay (3)

29 Kyle Katarn (21) - HKW-290

TLT (6), Jan Ors (2)

I know that trimming Rec Spec and the title off the HWK is awkward but you need to keep the list focussed on what each element is doing for it to work well. Jan charges up Red Ace's Comm Relay on turn 1 so she enters the battle with the maximum possible defense. On turn 2 when you enter firing range, you have the option of using Jan to give Poe an Evade token while Kyle then transfers a Focus to him.

This combo worked really well. I faced down Stresshogs, Deci-Whisper and Bossk-brick pretty effectively. My only loss was a mirror match against a similar rebel regen list and as I said, it was only a technical loss. ;) Kyle dies most games once your opponent realises how effectively he can super-charged your T70s but while they are chasing the HWK, your X-wings can be laying down the hurt and set you up a late game where your opponent is pummeled and your X-wings are fresh.

If your opponent does not take the bait and ignores Kyle, he can plink away all game with his TLT and continue to feed the X-wings tokens.
