Idea - Chits to identify change in pilot skill

By spacebug, in X-Wing

There is one piece of information that I struggle to remember, and that is the adjusted skills of pilots on the table.

It would be great if there were chits with possible pilot skills that could be plopped onto the ships like in my crappy photoshop mockup!

Chit:

How it might attach to the base:

Problems:

It would make it hard to put ship ID tombstone thingies in there. Possible solution - Make these chits out of thin card?

And I guess it's always a problem if new accessories are added to a game like this, it wouldn't really be good to make it a tournament legal requirement when some people might not have them, and then it would be confusing if some people used them and others didn't.

So I can already see there are issues, but I think it's a useful enough idea that it's worth suggesting anyway.

My photoshop mockup used exaggerated thickness to get the idea across. I'm thinking if this were done with cards like the standard pilot cards, maybe laminated for extra protection, this could work really well.

Ooooooh neat!

Idk. If someone builds a list and can't remember what cards they use, maybe they should play pokemon or chutes and ladders.

I just don't find pilot skill changing during a game often enough to make these worthwhile.

In fact so seldom that's its super easy to remember it happened.

I mean....are you guys talking about popping off a model and dropping these adjuster token things for damged cockpit crits?

Or is this to indicate VI or adaptability?

I might be missing something

Not even more tokens :**

Recreator had some of those for sale at Adepticon, they look pretty ace.

I think these would be a great idea I know I remember my ships pilot skill cause well I built the list. But I find once and a while my opponent goes dam forgot he was the ps while playing or I have been on the end of forgetting that my oppoets ship had it. Would be a cool idea not needed or that. But I could see a company doing these wouldn't be hard sell them as a set of 6 double sided so u could have 0-11 . Really neat idea

I love this!! Maybe have it so that the token attaches around the post base with a couple of grooves for the number tokens to slide in?

I have no problem remembering what cards I use. It's my opponent's ships that I get confused about.

I was thinking entirely for VI and adaptability.

Edit: that one someone linked that's being manufactured is designed so you don't need to pop the ship off. It's definitely an improvement over my idea.

I just put the tombstone marker with the new pilot skill on the ship. Easy, nothing new to buy, clearly IDs the pilot skill to you and your opponent.

^This is the simplest solution without requiring extra purchases. Just a bit of time/effort to separate the correct tombstones from you collection.

I played against him at Adepticon. He used this for the VI on his Whisper. It looked sweet, but yes it did take up the ID token slots.

A set of tokens with all the possible PS numbers in the standard font and layout would be grant. Blu tac can do the rest.

Just make your new PS-change gizmo attach to the back part.

These really should be mandatory. They help clear up the game so much, especially for new players.

You can put an ID token in the front side, off to the side of the peg, so you can see it from both sides. That's what we do.
