The Spoilerrific Super Duper Rogue One Megathread!

By Desslok, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

YOU'RE ALL WRONG!!! HE IS CLEARLY POE DAMERON'S FATHER!

In this movie, we find out that Kyle Katarn's middle name is "Dameron", making you both right. :P:ph34r:

@Sturn. Well, there are no Biggs and Luke scene. The end. Deleted scenes are just that. Deleted. So all the stuff that we have seen that ended up on the cutting room floor about Luke and Biggs is just nothing to the Offical Disney Canon. Even the deleted scenes from TFA or the prequels are not canon, are provided as a fun what if type of thing. Everything "we think" we know about Biggs is false, as it is not part of the Disney timeline. I guess it is kind of like a different or alternate dimension if you will. Kind of like they did with the Trek stuff. You have the EU/Legends stuff, and then you have the Disney stuff. I don't think any of the new Marvel comics have even touched on Biggs at all, all that came from Dak Horse.

I am totally up for a new story, and showing us what really happened to Biggs and that crew. I also want t know what happened to Tank!! He also went to the Acedemy!!

For me, I don't really care about the other stories that came before. I have all the original Marvel comics and read them all, when Dark Horse started coming out, no one ever cried that they were wiping out what Marvel had come up with and done. If it means new movies, so be it. We can have the alternate universes of Star Wars; the Legands and the Canon.

Looks like the first footage has dropped! Behold the awesome 2.5 seconds of footage!

Also, a Black Stormtrooper:

Must.. not...make..racist comment...regarding ...the force awakens... :D

Them darktroopers sure look awesome. then again, so did chrome trooper captain Phasma and she didn't end up doing a lot in TFA. I hope the darktroopers fare better.

Speaking of rogue one and RPGs: Anny chance we'll ever see a setting book for the Death Star?

It could give "The world's largest dungeon" a run for its money!

YOU'RE ALL WRONG!!! HE IS CLEARLY POE DAMERON'S FATHER!

Caps indicate sarcasm, I'm not sure if it's just sarcasm, so just in case: we already know Poe Dameron's father.

(Apologies if everyone knows this, I'm six months behind shelf date on Marvel Unlimited so it was recently news to me.)

.... and not a single Bothan in sight

...

I'm sure they'll show up for the theft of the second death star plans... you know... since that's when Mon Mothma makes that statement...

If the latter, I call very poor form, if the former, it's the 21st century and maybe you should become a bit more enlightened.

Really? So are you subtly trying to let everyone know your a bigot, or attempting a very poor attempt at humour?

I read it as him making fun of all the idiots who were torqued about Finn.

He's being sarcastic. Your reaction is frankly why race relations are stuck in pause and can't be discussed openly in society. I've got a newsflash for you, being enlightened doesn't mean when someone says something you find a bit offensive you scream 'witch' in their face.

Some thoughts.

  • A Star Wars Dirty Dozen or Magnificent Seven. I'm on board if so.
  • I imagine there is some big baddy (guy in white possibly?) who will be vanquished by the end of the movie.
  • Ending may be whoever is left of the group (possibly including the male and female humans) transmitting the DS info to the Tantive IV.
  • They will probably transmit it as they are captured by the overwhelming Empire forces.
  • Vader will show up in the end to be sent after the information, thus tracking and capturing the Tantive IV.
  • The couple are sent to prison where they reside until freed after the events of RotJ at some point.
  • They join the new regime and are now a couple.
  • They eventually have a daughter who is discovered to be Force sensitive.
  • Perhaps they and her strong connection to the Force are the reason she needs to be hidden away on Jakku after the fall of Luke's school.

Since contributing to the other thread would be feeding the trolls, I thought I'd ask this here:

- How come there aren't ANY alien species in this trailer? Like, not ANY? That's got to be the least STAR WARS element of this, more than the utter lack of fun.

I didn't notice it until my wife pointed it out, and then I felt like a space-racist.

(I am still super psyched about this movie regardless.)

There's a droid character. Kind of makes the team for Star Wars.

Probably because they are stiil being worked on in post production.

Alan Tudyk will be in this movie. A lot of people suspect he'll be playing an alien. Though that really doesn't answer much.

Someone mentioned a rumor he's the droid? He has a good voice for one.

Perhaps they are at a standstill because people "make a joke" about it being difficult to resist the urge to be racist. It shouldn't be a thought that even enters your head.

I found the comnent in very poor taste, so I called then out on it. Next time I'll keep my thoughts to myself and press the report button.

I did not murder him!

So your world involves controlling and deciding others thoughts and what they should be allowed to express to fit your perceptions??? Zeig Heil!!!

So is this another thread about Rogue One that someone's personal political bugbears are going to send down in flames?

Some thoughts.

I feel that Admiral McShinygun will be killed by Vader for failing to protect the Death Star plans.

This was my problem with TFA: No aliens on the team, apart from Chewie. No real recognizable alien characters, really, apart from Chewie and Maz, in fact.

With the exception of the crew of the Ghost, it seems to me that most Edge/Age/Force groups have more diversity - in species - than the Star Wars movies that inspired them seem to have. And I could understand the comparative lack of aliens in 1977 - but that was always one of the things about Star Wars: Aliens. Lots and lots of aliens. Humans are just another species of alien in a massive, massive galaxy. And after the Star Trek series of the 1990s - TNG, VOY, and especially DS9 - it just seems... strange, that in 2015/2016, there aren't more alien protagonists in Star Wars.

(Before anyone goes all PC on me, bear in mind that the human protagonists could easily be of Hispanic, Asian, African, &c. ancestry and you could have white guys playing the aliens. Although I suppose having white guys playing aliens might be viewed as some sort of Avatar/Dances with Wolves-esque reverse racism racism by having a white character in a situation where they're discriminated against for not being white while still being white. But whatever. It's f___ing Star Wars.)

You know what the first part of every racist joke is?

Looking over your shoulder to check who can hear you.

So according to this youtube clip, apparently they've named the character we think might by Kyle Katarn/someone else.

Time stamp: 38:30 is roughly when they start talking about it. Assuming their source is legit, it's not Kyle.

You didn’t notice Nien Nunb? See http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Nien_Nunb

In the extras you get with the digital download I bought, they even had a brief interview with the guy who played him in the movie, and it was the same actor who had played him in RotJ.

I’m not saying they didn’t have a lot of strange aliens, but for me, I have to confess that I prefer to see more new aliens than just always rehashing the old ones. And Maz’s castle is a place where I’m perfectly happy to see over 100 new alien species, and virtually none that we have seen before.

I mean, in a galaxy this large, surely there have to be millions and millions of species out there, right?

So your world involves controlling and deciding others thoughts and what they should be allowed to express to fit your perceptions??? Zeig Heil!!!

You're getting a bit out of line. So, now I'm being compared to someone who orchestrated the death of millions of Jews, homosexuals, and other groups who didn't fit in, and made examples to further a political agenda, all because I felt that posting, what I saw as someone other than you, making light of, and advocating racism (if only because it perpetuates that it is okay in this day and age to keep making "jokes" like that). I get that the original comnent was supposed to be a joke. I get that my response was a bit heavy handed to the situation. Calling me a nazi, in such a veiled and frankly, ironic since I'm basically saying racism and bigotry is an outdated and useless concept, is out of line.

Now, for the sake of this thread, I'm going to drop this. I will not post referencing this issue again, I urge you to do the same, otherwise this thread WILL be locked and about a dozen other Rogue One threads will pop up.

I'll post whatever I want, I'll say whatever I want, and I definitely will think whatever I want and I'll always call people on their BS. You can not like it and they can lock threads all day long and I don't really care. I'm not the one lecturing people on what they should be allowed to think and say. I agree there is a time and place for conversations, but with freedom and standing up for it, it's all the time and every place. I'm the one standing up for freedom, your line of thinking is crapping all over it.
