The Spoilerrific Super Duper Rogue One Megathread!

Or how cool it was that Cassian revealed his real name was Biggs.

Oh, come on now. Cassian's 'stache wasn't nearly as thick and luxurious and 1970s as Biggs's.

Reminds me of when I took my stepbrother to see Star Trek: Generations. He was about 10/11. I'd already seen it.

On the way to the theater, I told him, "Everyone dies."

"Uh-uh!"

"They do. The Enterprise crashes on a planet, and the planet blows up. Everyone dies."

The look on his face when that happened was priceless.

Of course, I didn't bother to tell him about the reset button called the Nexus.

Biggs actually didn't have a mustache. He took those from his Rebel Agent Disguise Kit.

I cannot wait until the new year's topic posts get shoved to the bottom in favor of the popular ones. Just sayin'

What an interesting delimma - here we are, just about a month after release and I have a friend who has yet to see the movie. That in itself isnt that big of a deal, but she trips balls whenever anything even remotely spoiler comes up in conversation around her. Like how there's a CGI Leia and Tarkin (which, if you think about the movie for half a second, those two characters would have to show up at some point) or how you can now jump to hyperspace from in atmosphere.

So while I try and not be spoilerriffic, stuff does occasionally leak out and we cant actually discuss the movie around her. While this is an open and shut case of #firstworldproblems, man I wish she would get off her ass and see the **** thing.

I'm kinda surprised they didn't just go all out and destroy Scarif. With Jedha, the explosion/fireball was relatively small (or just mostly occurring underground) and it was the shock wave that did the most damage. Not a big deal with Jedha, but Scarif had all those data tapes of secret Imperial information. How many might have survived intact just waiting for scavengers to dig them up or snag them out of orbit? Tarkin is known for taking awful risks, I suppose...

Was this shot in the movie? Or was this cut? If it was in I didn't notice the Ghost in the corner.

It was in there. You can also see it in the fleet approaching Scarif. And Chopper is in the background in one of the shots at the base.

Yep I saw the Ghost at Scarif more then once and saw Chopper. I just don't recall the image above and haven't seen any discussion about it amongst the "Rogue One easter eggs!!!" articles constantly popping up on social media.

PS: That shot of the U-wing by the X-wings could change my mind regarding the U-wing's silhouette discussion. There was an argument between 3 and 4 with most leaning towards a small 4. With the Ghost (4) and X-wing (3) for comparison, it could lean some towards a larger 3?

I knew there was some kind of Corellian-ish cockpit looking ship in that shot but missed it both times I saw it.

The VCX-100 is actually Sil 5, according to Keeping the Peace. I think that's kind of a dumb move by FFG, but that's how it is RAW.

well, if VCX-100 is Sil Five, then the Phantom can be Sil 3 and still fit with retrofitted hangers. That is the only reasoning I can think of

It sits on the outside of the Ghost, so it could have just been Sil 4 and used a variant of the docking clamps that the Citadel uses to cart around a pair of fighters.

Aye, there comes a point of if you actually care about the subject matter, one should just go ahead and see it. At most it will only consume about 3 hours of any given day, and we all know that a lot of people spend at least that much time on social media.

Not speaking from experience.... XD

Well, went and saw it again - thank you Reverend King, for giving me the day off to make this possible - and I asked if she wanted to go. She said nope. Since she stayed home and played Civilization all day long, from here on in, no Fs will be given if it's a spoiler or not.

I think it begs to question what other Facilities on Scarif are there besides the one we saw. I would not be surprised that the Vault Facility was just one of several on the planet.

When it comes to the Secret Imperial Data on the planet that survived the blast. It is not unreasonable to think that the Empire retook control over the planet after the battle. They could even rebuild from what is left.

Trying to take it from a prospective that Tarkin might have. The single shot would also be a good test to see how well an Imperial Facility like the Vault would handle the blast in comparison to what they saw on Jedah. Imagine being able to whipe out the forces attacking an Imperial Facility, but leave the Facility mostly intact.

That also might explain why they aimed at the water rather than firing directly at the facility.

They didn’t aim at the water. They aimed at the antenna, which had been moved so that it could beam a very large stream of data to the Rebel fleet.

It just so happened that the beam cut through the antenna platform and hit the water beyond, which then turned into a huge plasma explosion due to extreme overheating.

I think they aimed at the tower, missed, but rolled a triumph & a few advantage. I mean, look at the silhouette difference between the building and the Death Star - that's a tough shot! :)

Nah. They hit the part of the tower they wanted to hit, which was the antenna and the antenna platform.

At least, that’s the way I remember it. ;)

Fixed that for you.

Note to self: never piss off Tarkin.

What you're trying to say is, you shouldn't threaten Tarkin, when what you really mean to say is, you want me to threaten Tarkin.

Got it. I'll just go ask Vader if he feels like helping me.

Nah, that weapon, at that setting, was powerful enough to screw up continents, there is no need to be "precise" with your shots when the damage is that widespread. "Sir, we hit the same continental region as the base" "Very good, it will all be plasma in a few seconds."

Of course, they HAD to make it take a while before it hit the base, they had to shoehorn the unbelievable sort of romance between Jyn and...whatever that guy's name was, and they could hug each other while the wave approaches them, for maximum emotions!....not really, I was bored, but that's what they were hoping for. :P

I didnt see it as a romance. I thought it was a "Here comes a wave of approaching death, I will take comfort in my last few moments with someone who's been through a lot of S with me."

A moment of human connection, not a moment of lust.
