Rogue One Teaser Tomorrow on Good Morning America

By JediAutobot, in X-Wing

Is the guy in white an ISB officer? It'd be appropriate to have one as the lead antagonist for a spy team.

As for the black armored guys, Naval Troopers, Shadow Troopers, or Dark Troopers, or are they something entirely new?

In terms of appearance AFAIK they're entirely new, but that doesn't mean they're not a retread of something from Legends.

Honestly, the trailer didn't excite me all that much. I couldn't shake the feeling that, had it not been Star Wars related, it wouldn't have gotten me interested in the movie.

That said, I've gotten to the point where my enjoyment of trailers is so divorced from my enjoyment of films this doesn't really phase me. I'd actually rather relish a Star Wars film full of stuff that doesn't make for great trailers. I just don't feel like I have any better handle on what the movie will be about or if it will be any good than I did before I saw it.

You people are the f'ing worst.

That looked amazing. JUST GETTING TO SEE THE ORIGINAL DESIGNS, without some dumbass modern director deciding things needed to be "different" was awesome. Mon Mothma? The Death Star? ISDs? Original Storm Troopers?

Some of you suck. That trailer, on the other hand, did not.

Um hello why is noone talking about that shot of what looks to be a character based off everybody's favorite Admiral....Who's not a fish....https://scontent-dfw1-1.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xal1/v/t1.0-9/fr/cp0/e15/q65/12961586_972969172781125_6053194173963439740_n.jpg?oh=f56e67e3bb537633e504d37adc1a0139&oe=577BE1BE

Sorry, but I liked Pellaeon better then Thrawn.

Would you mind sending me some art you'very made for an unrelated reason....

Ashamed to say that it took a full 5 seconds to understand the reference. That said I'm not a huge fan of Thrawn. Pellaeon was a much better character.

I like both a lot. I've always felt that Thrawn was a great villian. Pallaeon was a great character. I want both of them in the movies.

I looked up the insignia for the guy in white. 6 red and 6 blue = Fleet Admiral (not high or grand). Just in case anyone was curious.

We've never seen it in a canon source before? Looks like Grand Admiral bars to me based on the uniform.

I don't think Grand Admiral bars are anywhere canon, but according to some sites, Grand Admiral bars should be this:

What will you do?

I just booked the 17th and 18th of december as days off from work.

That's what I'll do.

What color is that crashed T-65? What do we know about Poe's heritage?

Well, this is still early in SW timeline. There's nothing to say he doesn't get promoted to Grand later.

I think we'll have our answer during SW celebration either way.

It's in "burnt down" colour.

The helmet with Blue Rebel icons is Wes right?

Rogue Squadron existed for decades and as far as I - and, now that I think about it, the X-Wing Miniatures game - am concerned, they still do.

Never actually mentioned anywhere in the XWMG card text.

Pretty sure Poe's dad is a space samurai that flew a greyish x-wing until it crashed. Based on that screenshot.

PS: I only wished the main characters were Jan and Kyle... oh Disney... :(

Disney knows what it's doing, the characters are Jan and Kyle because that is what the fans WANT to see. But by changing the spelling in their names, Disney or JJ or the writers do not have to follow any of the "Legends" background established for them, including keeping them alive in the end.

Bah! Just call them Jan and Kyle and write your own new story, Disney. We want the same CHARACTERS - but the story doesn't have to be the same!

EU is now considered legends, as in it's myth surrounding actual cannon - so the liberty is totally there to use those characters.

All we wanted was more of the Star Wars we knew and loved.

They gave us The Force Awakens, which was Star Wars we already had, but with campy dialog and lens flare.

This looks like more Star Wars. I'm on board, for now.

All we wanted was more of the Star Wars we knew and loved.

Which we got, this past december.

The Force Awakens was Star Wars with lens flare. [...]

Just for reference, based on helmet decorations:

Wedge, Wes Janson, Davish Krail (Pops), John Brannon, and Wenton Chan are in the trailer.

my guess is that they are retconing "thrawn"* (name may change) as a fleet admiral instead of grand.

So the new guy has white instead of Olive/Grey, and only has one cylinder on each side.

Artist renditions of Thrawn have flashy gold shoulder pads and no cylinders.

AdmiralAlienAndCaptainMustache.jpg

I doubt it's Thrawn in the movie, especially if the Rebels rumors are true, but I'll hope and imagine the white uniform with admiral plaque and 2 cylinders is a different rank than [the fleet admiral] we've seen before. Grand Admirals incoming!

(The file name of the Thrawn pic is lulz)

All the love for Mon Mothma casting, no one has said that it's the same actress who played Mon Mothma in the ROTS deleted scenes.

Great that they brought her back, nice continuity to even deleted scenes!

We've known the premise of this film since it was announced pretty much, so the Rogue name not being a film about the squadron has been fine with me for MONTHS.

This trailer made me even more excited than the TFA ones, because CLASSIC STAR WARS!

All we wanted was more of the Star Wars we knew and loved.

I said we wanted *more* Star Wars. Not a re-skinning of Star Wars we already had. I mean, The Force Awakens was fun, but it was A Newer Hope with some poorly remixed Return of the Jedi. The Lethal Weapon 4 of Star Wars.

Was it? Did I miss something?

Yes, with a bit of streching I think you could call this movie Star Wars.

Ah, wait, you are asking about the lens flares... ?

Not as bad as in other Abrams movies, but they were visible.

Hey, you forgot the most obvious one!
