I know I've been a bit away but I have a quick question about this little friend of ours:

Secretive Zoog

Response: After you drain a domain to which Secretive Zoog is attached as a resource, unattach Secretive Zoog from that domain and put it into play to choose one other Zoog card you control. Attach that card to any of your domains.

My question is, do you get Secretive Zoog into play for free even if you don't have another zoog in play?

No, because you will not have a valid target.

You put into play the secretive Zoog to choose one other Zoog. If you have nothing to choose, you can't trigger the Response. See faq about choosing targets.
