The Commander Shephard stuff needs to stop

By Crabbok, in X-Wing Off-Topic

Crabbok, couldn't agree more I've nearly given up on three word story. Was tempted to hit the ignore button, but realised that would cause havoc with flow.

At least on this thread Shephard fetishists can post to their heart's content.

Three word story has been a lot of fun at times, but it has been destroyed for some time now by repetitive irrelevant memes, utter incoherence or lack of flow, and just some just ignoring previous posts to throw in whatever the feel like. It's quite sad really, but not in a funny way....

So THAT'S what this is about?

I've not been keeping up with that thread for the last couple of months and was wondering.

I enjoy the sight of humans on their knees. That was a joke.

Amusingly, I'm watching Oblivion for the first tine right now.

It is VERY Mass Effect-y.

If you like Mass Effect that much start a thread about it, or perhaps there are discussion forums dedicated to that particular universe.

I'm curious, has anyone smart built a forum parser that reconstructs that massive 200 page topic to a single paragraph?

Crabbock, you have changed nothing. Your topic has the attention of those infinitely your greater. That which you consider spam is your salvation through destruction

You have failed. We will find another way. Releasing control.

No.

Early in it's lifespan, people would sometimes post the whole story. I think this happened twice, but that was a long time ago.

"Stand in the ashes of a trillion spam posts and ask the ghosts if honor matters. The silence is your answer."

In all seriousness though Crabbok. While Mass Effect 1 was brilliant, 2 expanded on it in every way, refined it. 2 is an almost perfect game. Every time I play through it I love it more . 3... 3 was amazing, tear jerking, soul gripping, painful and joyful and WHY THE ENDING OH GOD WHY?

If they released an xbox one port of the game, there is literally no doubt that I'd buy it, even at full price.

I'd consider PC but apparently the controller support is terribad.

1 was good, lots of raw potential and imagination.

2 was better, as Darius said, refined combat, bigger and better defined universe to explore and OH MY GOD THAT FINAL MISSION BEST EVER

3 was mechanically better, combat and abilities pretty much perfected (to the level they added an absolutely incredible horde-based multiplayer component), combined with less exploration and a more mission orientated storyline, with lots of big payoff moments for those who played the entire trilogy and imported their saves. The ending was... less well received, as Darius points out, but I liked it (even if my headcanon leaves me with a cliffhanger rather than closure).

To put it simpler. Only the best of the best games do I play through more than once. Because my time is limited.

I've played through the mass effect trilogy, fully and completely completing every quest (AS ONE MUST) a half dozen times.

As well as put many hours into multiplayer.

Like, I could tell you i;ve played through space marine a half dozen times. That's maybe 24 hours of gaming in that statement.

Mass effect trilogy... we are on 200+.

and I'd still do it again, adding another 24-36 each time. The only reason I'm not playing it through again right now after talking about it is the lack of PC controller support, and really the 360 is my kids now. I just don't get that much access to it.

Even Skyrim I've only played through twice.

GTAV only once.

On top of that, ME can be compared to the MGS games, where a lot of the emotional payoff comes in the cutscenes. Now, your mileage may vary because the cutscenes/dialogue may vary based on your choices. But some moments, Mordins final exit. Thanes prayer (especially if you play femshep), Legion and Tali....

Even the scene with Garrus and Shepard shooting bottles on top of the Citadel...

It all hits you right in the heart and stomach.

Executing Legion. Always a favorite.

Never done it, will never do it.

Have to do it, and it's the stupid robot's own **** fault.

Disclosure: I (profoundly) prefer open world games to linear games such as Mass Effect.

Having said that, Mass Effect was such a great game, with such good characters, visuals, story, I was able to enjoy it.

The only negative for me was the fact that there wasn't a play-through "option" (like the typical "blood and gore" filter) to omit the "romance" options. Obviously people like the option to flirt with (and eventually seduce) one or more members of their crew, but having that hard-wired into the game meant my children had to wait until they were a little older before I would let them play it.

That's fair, You can opt not to romance though, but the options to do so are not obvious.

You can fight like a krogan, run like a leopard but you'll never be better than Commander Shepard.

"Ending." you said it. Not "ending s " :D

That said. There is a bit tooo much Shepard on the three word thread...

Yup I've enjoyed Three Word Story, but the life and fun has been drained from it by this, sadly the "I'm out" post in there was a double meaning. It's just become so juvenile and not in a slapstick funny way....

Wrex.

Shepard.

Stop kidding around.
