Are there any communities or sites with a database of players and GMs?

By Kota624, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

Hey everyone,

I was wondering if there are any sites or anything that have a database of players and GMs that run games weekly or close to weekly where you could hope in and out of games as a consistent character.

The point of this being that I have a very hectic and unpredictable schedule but sometimes have a week with free time and would love to spend it playing an online game. The problem is I can't guarantee that I'll be available at the same time on the same day each week.

If anyone knows of any place where you register a character and can hop into games when you can that would be great.

I would like to say that I do already know about Shadow of the Broker and I think that it is fantastic. Unfortunately they play most of their games on Saturdays which happen to be a day I rarely have free.

Any and all help would be appreciated.

As a side note: If no other community exists I wouldn't be opposed to being a part of the formation of one. I must warn, though, that I am no web designer and could only work on this in my spare time. But if others were interested then I would gladly help out.

We usually run games on Sunday, too, unless there's a 2-GM, 2-Team mission on Saturday or the GM on duty picks Friday & Saturday. The schedule isn't set in stone though. For instance, Chronicles of the Gatekeeper, Part II will be one of our 2-Team missions, but it'll be on Sunday, 4/17.

I appreciate the info. I was looking for more of weeknight thing which I believe you guys also do on occasion too, I just got the impression it was a bit more random.

RPG.net (link in my signature) hosts a lot of Play-by-Post games, not all of which are Star Wars (but I am trying to get more FFG games on there).

Perhaps, with your unpredictable schedule, a Play-by-Post game is what you need compared to a live one?

I know the /r/lfg subreddit is popular for these sort of requests too: https://www.reddit.com/r/lfg

It is for all games everywhere, so please expect to have to filter things down a little. They have a pretty reasonable format so it's not terribly difficult.

Calling it "rpg.net" might be a little misleading, since there is an established website called RPG.net that hosts one of the biggest and most active forums for roleplaying gamers on the internet.

That said, it looks like an interesting place. (Maybe calling it roleplayinggames.net would prove less confusing, however.)

Noted. Will change my signature when I get away from work.

Thanks for the ideas guys! I will try them out and keep looking!

I appreciate the tip. I've actually tried that and while its fun it tends to drag and lose steam for me kind of quick. But thanks.

Enworld (enworld.org) has a map based search to allow you to see who is in your area. They mostly cater to the d20 crowd but they have star wars players too.
