TFA- after the dust has settled. (Spoilers)

By Chief Hugh, in X-Wing

It may just be the trailer talking, but...Rogue One seems to be a hell of a lot better than TFA.

"This is the rebellion, isn't it?"

"I rebel."

Not quite as good as Marlon Brando's "what have you got?" responce to "what are you rebelling against?", but still cool.

I was expecting a space fighter flick when I first heard 'Rogue One'. Instead I see dark forces redux and only see x-wings, star destroyers, and the death star for ships. Maybe she is in the Moldy Crow during the 'look at me look out a washed out window' scene.

Grand Admiral without blue skin and red eyes?

Do all the Mouse haters think that Star Wars would've been better off staying in Lucas' hands*? Love 'em or hate 'em Disney is really good at what they do. And that is make a product that the masses want. If not Disney who would've you liked to see buy it? Because I believe Star Wars would've withered and died if Disney didn't pry it from Lucas' hands.

* This is not a troll. It's a serious question.

I think it was good, and It's great that the people working are Star Wars are people who love Star Wars. I just hope they don't run it into the ground...

It was supposed to be extremely similar to the OT so purists wouldn't ***** about it "Not being Star Wars." They give you a move that is filmed better with more developed characters that feels like Star Wars and they still complain. Haha ridiculous. Chill the **** out, stop acting like a "Star Wars Snob," sit the hell down, and enjoy what you are getting: More Star Wars that feels like Star Wars.

Or if you like we can have Lucas direct another one...

I just don't get why people don't like it. It may not have been Empire Stikes Back, but it was good, and more importantly not bad.

There is a small contingent that does. Mainly, those that love the PT. Tossing out Lucas' treatment was tantamount to treason.

The only Star Wars movie that appears to be able to meet your standart would be episode 5. I don't really get why you like the franchise to be honest, a strong tolerance for shoddy movies is required to enjoy it in the first place.

I didn't expect it to be better JJ is a hack director it was never going to be better than average.

I like JJ Abrams, but You are right, he isn't amazing. I would like to think it came out at least average.

It was better than average but it was ford saved it for me if he'd phoned in his performance i would not have stayed to the end of this film because i knew how it'd end.

Yeah it was great seeing Ford back in action as Han.

JJ isn't a hack. Zack Snyder, now that it is a hack. JJ is however very dependent on his scripts. He isn't an all around director, where he is good in the script stage as well as shooting stage. Considering most of the issues people have with his movies can very, very easily be found in the other movies with heavy Orci/Kurtzman involvement (I like to call them Dumb and Dumber).

JJ is VERY good at casting and getting performances out of his actors. He also has a visual style that is very much his own. He isn't a Spielberg or Cameron, but he is still a good director.

Snyder and JJ are on par with each other they can do visual but utterly fail with story.

snyder is a comic strip-style, but if a comic strip with idle character and heavy thoughts is cool and grimdark, it is booooooooooooooring in films after a while.

and jj is simply jar jar. Lost was not good because of him, it was good despite his efforts!

As long as they don't go out of their way to alienate them there really is no reason why these people wouldn't stay involved. Star Wars is without a doubt better of with Disney than it is without.

Disney likes money.

Disney's smart though.

Disney thinks about ten, twenty, forty years down road, not just this year or next year.

Disney knows that best way to keep franchise profitable long term is to put artists who love franchise in charge of that franchise.

Therefore, the people put to work on Star Wars by Disney WILL be people who grew up loving it and want it to stay good.

That tl;dr enough for ya, hobojebus?

We have come to expect that they couldn't have an original idea as far as scripts. My disappointment was watching them kill off Hans Solo in such a pathetic way. I know that he was not interested in coming back and expected him to die but "Really" I'm just going to stand here until you kill me. How much of a fan do we have to be to overlook the mountain of poor choices. Sure I'll probably watch it 20 times and I'm sure that after about the 15th viewing I'll have talked myself out of how stupid a Sun eating weapon is. How Hans death was supposed to be emotional. How the new villain (junior) isn't the Jeffrey Dahmer of Star Wars now. " He was such a nice quiet boy!" Sorry for being down on it. I enjoyed watching it, it was nice to look at. Had a few moments the was cool.... I just kind of felt like I was sold something by a used cars sales man.

The number of legitimate criticisms that can be leveled against the Disney-Industrial Complex are LEGION! But STUPIDITY is NOT among them.

I'm Glad Disney has taken over Star Wars. Having a bottomless pit of money to produce these movies is a good thing and not too many corporations have that ability. Yes they goofed up on the New Hope remake but I think Rogue One will validate that Disney was the right choice.
