Minature Market Sale today

By Cubanboy, in X-Wing

I just got an email with their spring clearance sale going on and it looks like a couple X-Wing ships are listed.

Core sets are 25.00
K-wings are 12.00
Falcon is 18.00
Hounds Tooth is 25.00
T-70 is 9.00 ***** Edit

Not too shabby.

How is that possible if the maximum possible discount allowed by asmodee is 30%?

...and more ships on sale besides those.

Because Asmodee is not telling stores what price they can sell ships. They are cutting the discounts the online stores can get on the product, which if they want to maintain the same margins for selling them, have to increase the price.

A sale merely means they make less than normal, just like any sale.

If you look at the clearance spreadsheet, the only other ship on clearance sale is the T-70 at $9. All the rest are at standard MM prices.

I don't think its an issue if the retailer is taking a loss on the models, just like anything else on sale. (also do we know if asmodee gave them approval .....)

Maybe it's all old stock that they bought before the price change that isn't moving well.

Maybe they are moving the rest of their stock and are done.

ooh... getting a rebel transport is tempting.... but I don't want my family and friends to think i'm addicted!!!!!

GOLLUM! GOLLUM!!!

That awkward moment when coolstuffinc has close to all those prices even without a sale....

CoolStuffInc's standard prices are exactly the same as MM's standard prices on these items. They are close because this is "only" a further 16-20% off those prices.

Yes, that awkward moment when someone has to have a "sale" explained to them

Oh my bad, haven't been to miniature markets site in a while and just looked quickly at Cubanboys link and didnt seem like the sale was very impressive.

I may actually get a K-wing for those prices.

For the cards. I'd customize a Crimson Skies plane for the model. That thing is uuuuuuugly.

I'm not a fan of Miniature Market. They offer cheap pricing but charge up on shipping to make it up.

It has never been worth the exchange and shipping to purchase anything from MM. It works out to the same pricing as a brick and mortar.

I'll pass on this "sale".

*EDIT: P.S. No offence to Cubanboy for posting this. Keep posting online sales my friend.

Now, a business trip to the US quickly turns into "just how many ships can I fit in my carry on (outside of their packaging)?" I think I very nearly hit the limit this time, though an argument could be made that I don't need to bring all my clothes back, right? ;)

I cannot wait to see them go through the x-ray machine! Were this a different world, I'd ask for a print copy of that scan.

Unless you guys are from out of the country I can't see how the $6 shipping is bad unless you are only buying one ship. Just two ships and shipping is the same cost as retail, and it just gets better from there.

I wish the discounted FLGS was closer to me and I would cut out all the online ordering. Local shops where I live charge retail and don't support X Wing to be worth it.

Flat $6 shipping that becomes free after $100? I fail to see anything unreasonable about those rates.

They use to use USPS, which had increasing prices as the order went up, naturally.

Didn't bother me, really, as I generally waited until I had orders over $100.

But anyway, I like MM better than CSI. The one order I did place from CSI years ago arrived a week late and put me in a sour mood.

But, truthly, MM and CSI (and other similar sites) are very similar anyway. Not that much a difference between them, just a preference of what store people like.

Only if they did that. That must be national shipping because when I ordered 2 K-wing, 2 T-70, 3 TAP's and 2 U-boats, the shipping was around $41-47 international. That was almost half the cost of the order and doesn't include the 25-30% exchange rate. I'll copy/paste what I see when I try to order.

Well... yeah. You won't get a good comparison between bricks and mortar stores in your country and an online store overseas.

What do you mean by a 25-30% exchange rate?

He means that the CAD is no longer at parity. Factoring that in, it's too close to the local prices, especially when duty may be levied.

Deals must have looked much better 2 (?) years ago with the CAD at parity and local distributor generally not sticking with a straight up conversion.
