A very good knife fighter?

By Scopes, in X-Wing Squad Lists

So...here's what I'm theorycrafting with:

Dagger Squadron Pilot — B-Wing 24
Accuracy Corrector 3
Autoblaster 5
Hera Syndulla 1
B-Wing/E2 1
Ship Total: 34

DSP for the U-Boote matchup (he's PS4) and the B-wing can be utilized as a close-quarters fighter.

My thoughts:

-Hera lets me have full access to the dial with some level of unpredictability, albeit not much. However, that B-wing can now turn on a dime multiple turns in a row.

-AC and Autoblaster should(?) give two hits only cancelable using evade tokens.

My question, though, is how tough of a ship will this be to fly? Large base ships may not pose much of a problem but would this loadout play right into the hands of a player of a high PS arc-dodger?

Rest of my list is a Grey Squad Stresshog and Ello Asty (AT, BB-8, PTL), fwiw.

If you're planning on staying stressed, why not go for Ibitsam instead of the accuracy corrector? you get almost the same firepower (three dice with a reroll vs two automatic hits) and you get a defensive reroll and slightly better PS into the bargain.

nvm - my mistake

Firstly, evade tokens cannot be used to cancel hits from an autoblaster. But don't fall into the trap of thinking that its a good cannon. Its not. It really is a trap option. You are spending 8 points to get 2 auto-hits at range 1. Not a good deal (especially since its so easy to avoid for the types of enemies you want to catch with it). You can get the same, if not better damage output just by taking FCS and that costs 26 points for a dagger. And by same/better damage, I am referring to 'over the course of the b-wing's time on the board' as opposed to any single turn of shooting.

It's a great build for playing against any list but the toilet seats. Your ship is not likely to make it past round 1 of fighting, so it's becomes an expensive cannon fodder in my opinion.

I would suggest:

Farlander - 29

Stay on Target - 2 (I am debating VI for 1 point)

FCS - 2

/E2 + Hera - 2 point (total)

TOTAL - 35 points.

SOT will allow you to, well, stay on target, much better! A must for a knife fighter. Hera will allow those tight 1 - red turns even SOT. FCS, well free target lock each round is golden. Farlander allows you to use the focus on defense.

Most importantly, build the remaining squad to force the opponent to make a choice. Who to focus on, otherwise the B-wing gets taken out on the 2nd or 3rd round of dice. (4 Tie Fighters with good rolls at range 2 = 1 dead B wing with bad rolls in one round)

Okay...here's what I came up with:

Keyan Farlander — B-Wing 29

Stay On Target 2

Fire-Control System 2

Hera Syndulla 1

B-Wing/E2 1

Ship Total: 35

Ello Asty — T-70 X-Wing 30

Push the Limit 3

BB-8 2

Autothrusters 2

Ship Total: 37

Gray Squadron Pilot — Y-Wing 20

Twin Laser Turret 6

R3-A2 2

BTL-A4 Y-Wing 0

Ship Total: 28
