Should we get a 1-point Flechette turret?

By Rustedborg, in X-Wing

personally for 1 pt I thu#ink that you are looking at a turret that rolls a single attack dice up to range 3 or a rolls more dice but has shorter range.

Say like a

Single laser turret. Range :- 1-3 attack dice :- 1 1 pt.

Single Blaster Turret Range :- 1-2 attack dice :- 2 1 pt

Single Fusion Turret Range :- 1 attack dice :- 3 1pt

it just seems that turrets are pointed at 1pt per dice up to range 3 that they fire. and fixed guns at 1.5 dice up to range 3 per point and can have a special affects with out surcharge.

Not as much as we should get a Tractor Beam turret.

The turret is also paying for the 360 degree arc.

That is why I made it deal zero damage.

It's not really a flechette turret then is it...

It's not like the problem that existed with TLTs obliterating arc-dodgers before the introduction of autothrusters. There are many counters to stresshogs.

I don't want to be pedantic, but you do realize that this quite literally never happened, right? Autothrusters were in the game with the StarViper, 6 months before the TLT was introduced with the K-Wing. Arc-Dodgers with autothruster access (like the infamous example of Soontir) have been a weakness of TLT from day one of the Wave 7 release.

That being said, I like the core idea a lot. A stress turret would be nice, as would a range 1-3, 2 attack turret. Limited application, but an interesting option. Still, I see the reasoning why turrets need other limitations (like range). A turret like that one would really only see use on a Y-Wing or a HWK, not any of the other turret equipped ships, and a TLT is almost always superior. I think if a stress turret was introduced, it would have to function in an almost identical way to the ion turret, with a comparative cost. Stress is also a very powerful mechanic, and making it too cheap simply runs the risk of screwing far too many lists. Stresshog isn't that bad because you can only have one of them.
