Stop talking about baloney!

By Darkcloak, in X-Wing

Because let's face it. I suck at X-Wing. That's no baloney. What's that DC, you click baited us into a real thread? Dastardly!

If my $10 isn't going to go to waste I'd better start pickin' brains around here and learn how to buck up and fly like a real pilot... erm ugh. I mean, I would like to get better at flying Imperials. Please help me feel like a not-moron when I fly them?

Anyways here is what I got for Imp ships.

1x Phantom

1x Advanced

2x TIE from core set

1x Interceptor

1x Bomber

Plus I have a ton of other junk too as far as cards go. Cards I lack that are popular, Kallus, Emps, Tie x1 Title (Though I think I can buy one from a guy soon). I have Autothrusters, Stealth Devices, Chimps.

So that's what I got, what can I do? I know I sound like a broken record, but I before I've asked about certain ships or builds, but here I just want a general go-over of what I could do, or what I should get to be more competitive. I have an event coming up and I really want to fly Imperials for it, but lately I just fail really hard with them and I don't know what I can do.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Cheers.

Man. I'm so glazed. Took a while to figure out what you were asking.

You absolutely need Veteran Instincts.

Saying that, I really recommend getting really good at flying Whisper. Its skill intensive: so you'll have a lot of room for growth. Its good: you'll win a good number of games. Its your best piece atm: your collection is a tad small.

You can pair her with whatever you want. Have PTL? go with Soontir. Have the tie x1 title? Go with Vader.

2 ties as filler are actually REALLY good. The worlds level players in my area have actually been forgo-ing the Emperor and the shuttle for two ties for blockers.

Lebanon Bologna is the best...

Are you looking for list advice or flying advice or both? There's a few things you could try with the ships you've already got.

If you've got Push the Limit, the Royal Guard title and Veteran Instincts, you could run Soontir, Whisper and a couple of blockers and not be too bad off. It won't be as strong or as forgiving a list as Palpmobile Aces, but it's likely to be as good as you can get.

Soontir Fel - Push the Limit, Autothrusters (and if you have it, Royal Guard TIE & Stealth Device)

Whisper - Veteran Instincts, Advanced Cloaking Device (and if you have them, upgrades like Rebel Captive & Sensor Jammer or Fire Control System and Tactician)

Academy TIE Pilot x 2

Throw the Academy TIE's in your opponents faces and try to block them and deny them actions, flank with the two Aces and try to get shots from out of your enemy's arc. Focus down targets one at a time if possible.

The phantom and the interceptor are your strongest ships whatever configuration you can run on them. Preference of course for ptl at and sd on the interceptor, and acd on the phantom. Once you get the tiex1 title and hopefully atc as well then you have Vader as an ace as well. The tie fo is a great support and filler ship as the bomber can be if you don't overload it.

Recommend you think about Imperial Aces for extra interceptors, pilots and a good selection of upgrades and looking forward get the Imperial Veterans pack for a defender and the bomber buffs.

Oh...and I have been to Bologna and eaten its famous sausage from the local delicatessens. Suggest you try that instead of pre packaged supermarket imitations.

Fried balogna for breakfast, yum! Still prefer bacon.

man I hate baloney

it's just really sh*tty mortadella

Actually, this is part of the problem. Gender and race equality is apparently "baloney" to this kid.

First off....can you proxy cards you don't have for casual games? That should help you out a bit.

Next....what do you like to play? At least start with a ship you like and go from there.

Personally, I'd get a few more Tie Fighters. I like a heavy hitter and then a mini-swarm of about 4 Tie Fighters.

With your list, I'd probably go with:

Vader w/ X1 (proxy), Adv. Targeting Computer, Predator, and Engine Upgrade

Dark Curse w/ Hull Upgrade

Backstabber

Gamma Pilot Bomber w/ Homing Missile, Extra Munitions, Thermal Detonators (Proxy or use Seismic), and Guidance Chip (proxy).

Should be fun, at least.

(96)

"Echo" (36) - TIE Phantom

Elusiveness (2), Tactician (2), Stygium Particle Accelerator (2)

Turr Phennir (27) - TIE Interceptor

Squad Leader (2)

Dark Curse (16) - TIE Fighter

Mauler Mithel (17) - TIE Fighter

You really should save up for the Aces pack. That will really help.

No you are what pisses me off.

You self serving messiahs have no idea what the real world is about and if you had to exist in it, without your hold-me-close blanket of self serving idealism, you'd freeze to death.

Only if you want to fly all Tie Interceptors.

Personally, I'd go with heavy hitter and mini swarm. It's all in what you want to play, really. I like the redundancy of more ships as opposed to just a few aces.

Ahem. Sorry folks.

I'm just tired of this stupid argument rearing it's retarded head everywhere I go.

Those of us here to talk about X-WIng, carry on. The rest? Piss off.

Anyways...

Yes, I do have me a copy of Veteran Instincts. Well, as it turns out I have the cards for this build...

Whisper + ACD + VI + FCS + Gunner

Soontir + PTL + AT

Academy x2

100 points

So that looks like a pretty classic build. Maybe I'll just fly the hell out of that for a month?

Or should I go for a more reserved Whisper build like swap Gunner and FCS for Rebel Captive and Sensor Jammer? I kinda like the buzzsaw though...

Most people have given you the advice you need, so all i'm gonna say is you don't need a Lambda, Palp-Aces is popular now, but it's not for everyone. I bought the shuttle because it's cool. personnaly, The Decimator is alot more fun to fly. Whisper is great to, but you really need to get Veteran Instcints for her. Also, like heychadwick said, 2 more ties is a good idea, a mini-swarm of 4 plus an ace is one of my favorite build types.

Don't listen to them! Embrace the Buzzsaw!

A cheap addition to your burgeoning would be the Tie Advanced Prototype. It has Guidance chips, and that would be a fine kick in the pants for your bomber.

I don't have any of the epic ships, nor do I have a shuttle, and I get by pretty well. I think you can do a lot with the fighters at your disposal. Don't be afraid to buck the normal builds.

Lol, well I do have a bunch of w8 already so I have some goodies like chimps. I was looking at Nathan Eide's (?) list for Hoth and I thought I could do that with just what I have and I'd only have to buy the TAP.

I have wife money so... I have to spend it or it'll end up in the fridge or in the Pokemon binder! Lol. So I was thinking of another purchase, but maybe y'all are right and all the advice I need is here and now I just need to exeggcute!

... sorry...

Get the Decimator! Man, you don't HAVE to fly good with that beast!

Best not advising people to immediately get into (expensive) bad habits. :P Plus, the Decimator is likely going to get murdered by the new chipped ordinance builds...

Wait so if this thread started by talking about food.....

Then is it gonna turn into an immature debate of morals over controversial issues?

I bet you get your panties in bunch when people confuse Star Trek and Star Wars, too? Eh?
