Am I in a serious minority running the Mist Hunter? Used it my last 4 games and am loving the ship. Been running Dengar and the MH together.
Anyone else feeling the love for the Mist Hunter?

I love the mist hunter. 4LOM pilot with Zuckuss crew, wired and sensor jammer is currently my favorite build. Been running it with Palob and a jump master torp boat to good success.
Just curious. What is the Dengar build you run with the Mist Hunter?
Dengar- PTL, K4, Unhinged, Glitterstim, Punishing One, EU

I love the ship design, and 4LOM is great, but I'm singularly unconvinced by the ship in general. It's fundamentally a b-wing in a meta where nobody is playing b-wings.
I honestly don't like the named pilots of the Mist Hunter. I do enjoy flying the ship with generics. I found this list to be pretty good in my store
76 points
PILOTS
Ruthless Freelancer (26)
G-1A Starfighter (23), Tactician (2), Mist Hunter (0), Tractor beam (1)
Ruthless Freelancer (25) x 2
G-1A Starfighter (23), Tactician (2)
And You have 24 points spare to either get 2 Z-95s. a Y-Wing with TLT or Scyk with HLC. Still working on the best option for the 4th ship there
I have played three different lists using multiple G-1A ships two lists with four G-1As and one list with three G-1As and I've won all three matches. These beasts are B-wings with better survivability thanks to the evade action. It's easy for people to dismiss these ships as unimpressive B-wing clones, but having one extra evade token every round adds just enough extra "tankiness" to make even the generic ships a serious threat.
Edited by Rustedborgthe g1-a is a fine ship with more usable named pilots than the B
it's just something you really have to limit ito upgrades, because it's frail. 1 agi 8 health will die quickly, just not in one shot to bad green dice.
8 health ship in the mid 20s for generics is NOT frail. That's the problem with the slow red dice power creep. People start getting these skewed perceptions. Will it die if 100 points of enemy shoot at it? Well yeah, but so would any similar costed ship (and some more expensive ones). So yeah, definitely not frail. But not indestructible neither. Its a solid jouster, really, and to get the most out of it in that role, you do have to keep it cheap.
8 health 1 agi is always frail and has always been frail, red dice creep didn't change that. Even ye ole tie swarm would dismantle an 8 health ship in short order, and the g1-a does not have the capability to avoid concentrated fire (cloak?)
which is why you must endeavor to keep it cheap. It's not like an interceptor that can be built to last at range 3 with actions nor the defensively excellent profile of the aggressors. It doesn't even have the fat han option of 2 guaranteed damage cancel
Edited by ficklegreendiceYou keep using that word, but I don't think it means what you think it means ![]()
If it takes 7 TIE fighters shooting to kill one ship, that's not frail! That's ACTUALLY tanky! I mean hell, if 7 TIE's could not kill a single 22 - 25 point ship in one turn, that would be stupid OP...
And according to my napkin math, it takes 7 TIEs with howlrunner re-rolls to deal about 9 damage to a 1 agility ship (discounting range modifiers). So yeah, that's quite solid for a mid 20s ship...
Edited by blade_mercurialmid 20s ship isn't the point, the point is that the base profile is fragile so you want to avoid pooling points onto it
if the ship is likely to be evaporated in one turn, especially before shooting, I really don't care how many ties it takes. It's still fragile

Maybe I've just been lucky in the three matches I've played using multiple G-1As but I've NEVER had one of my G-1As get taken off the board in a single turn/round of attacks.
In one of the matches my enemy (Brobots) had to focus fire on one ship for three turns to take it out ... and then I had three untouched G-1As left to finish off the wounded brobots and all three of my remaining ships survived.
In another match it took focused fire from three TIE Interceptor aces (all excellent arc dodgers) for two turns of combat to get rid of one G-1A. In other words it took 3 expensive aces totalling 100 points (with dice modifiers) to get rid of one 25-point ship ... and durig those two turns/rounds of attacks all three of those aces took hits and I was able to finish them off in subsequent attack turns.
As others have suggested, I think your subjective definition of "fragile" is very different than other players‘ subjective definition of "fragile."
To me, a "fragile" ship is any ship that can be one-shot-killed by a single enemy ship ... going from full health to dead after only one ship attacks it.
I fully accept the "possibility" that any ship (even a 16-point super-tank like the Decimator or the Ghost) can "potentially" die in a single turn/round if it takes perfect focused fire from an entire list.
If my list of four G-1As, all firing 3-4 attack dice per attack, kill a Decimator after just six attacks (1.5 turns/rounds of attacks) does that mean a Decimator is fragile in your mind?
I've only used it once so far. I think that I'm going to need a few games at least to really figure out what I want from the ship and what it wants from me. It's got the beefiness of a y-wing and the same agi but also has evade and barrel roll and a crew slot? Anyways, I think it'll be interesting. I'm not in love with the move dial but I plan to try it out a lot more.
my wife plans on getting a couple of x-wing ships. question is would two mist hunter expansions be a solid buy?
1 is enough.
Everything good about it is either unique or comes in pairs (Adaptability). And it's a 1-of when fielded in any Scum squad.

This, pretty much.
The generics might one day have their place, but other than the ship itself there's very little in the packet that you need more than one of - so if you're starting out 1 is a great number to have.
Edited by ReiverYeah, I'd go for a Mist Hunter and StarViper instead -- it'll cost the same amount. You'll get one slow, tanky ship and one fast, agile ship.
I find the ship just fine fit what you pay. I love Zuckess with Dengar on it. Poor out some damage for sure. I also like advance sensors on him. With the title you can barrel roll first if needed. No real need to target lock with Dengar on board. It will die. But the damage it can put out before it dies is well worth it's points

You get one slow, tanky ship and two copies of Autothrusters. ![]()
I need the Fang... Once the Fang is out I can actually play the G1A without having an armed tied behind my back. My favorite is Zuckuss Guri and Palob.
cool, I already have a couple of Starvipers and three Scyks, along with the most wanted expansion along with a HWK and a firespray....oh almost forgot two IG2000's lol yeah I love me some scum faction. so one Mist hunter expansion... might as well get me a couple of khirax fighters too " probably butchered that" I feel like I'm missing out with not having those as well.
