Dark Curse and Deadeye

By 4fox100, in X-Wing Rules Questions

I was just wondering if Dark Curse would negate the effect of deadeye. The way i see it is that you spend the focus to perform the attack. Dark curse's ability kicks in when defending so i would think the focus cannot be used for the ordnance. On the other hand the argument could be made (and might be correct) that you are not considered 'defending' until the attack is being made. And Deadeye allows you to spend a focus to perform an ordnance attack.

So long story short. Does deadeye work when attacking Curse?

Deadeye (and Blaster Turret) works against Dark Curse under the rules updated with TFA Core. They were changed quite elegantly.

Many thanks.

Under the old rules, Dark Curse would indeed stop the spending of the token to fire ordnance. Under the TFA rules, the timing sequence has had a slight change and now you choose a weapon, spend the token, and DC becomes the defender.

The FAQ has also addressed this:

“Dark Curse” can be the target of a secondary weapon attack that requires the attacker to spend a focus token.

Carnor Jax, on the other hand, would indeed prevent the initial spending of the token...
