Tomorrow is when the true TFA release happens - never mind that silly digital release. I'm likely overly optimistic, but that's still an important Star Wars date. Historically there have been other Star Wars product announcements/releases that have coincided with DVD/Bluray releases.

May the 4th is generally a big marketing push for Disney (Star Wars Day, because of the whole 'May the 4th be with you' thing)
I'd expect a trailer for the new Star Wars movie to appear, then, and given the general push for Star Wars merchandise...it'd be a smart day for FFG to drop news on their next wave, too.
I wager we'll see a Rogue One spot in front of Civil War. If not, it'll be on The BFG in July. We didn't get the first Force Awakens trailer until Black Friday in 2014, so I don't think we'll see anything for Episode VIII before Thanksgiving.
GenCon is a possibility for a Wave 9 announcement, but don't discount Origins in June either. Or they could just announce it out of the blue, outside of any given convention. Who knows?
I'd bet hard on Imperial Veterans being available in at least limited quantities at GenCon though.
Civil War arrives next week - I can't imagine they'll have a Star Wars trailer for that, given Rogue One hasn't even finished filming, yet. It'd be a teaser trailer, if anything, which doesn't really help us.
Civil War has its premiere next week. It doesn't open in the US until May.
I'm gonna see it before you
living in the UK has so many great benefits, if only we weren't connected to France things would be perfect.
Sometime before the release of Imperial Veterans, which is lets face it, some time from now.
Umm, Rogue One is most definitely done filming principle photography.
Eh - [citation needed]?
Not that I wouldn't be happy to hear it, but they usually announce that sort of thing, and I couldn't find any such announcement. They only just started filming it in September, so...? (I mean, 6 months principle filming wouldn't be unheard of - Episode VII only took 6 months, so it's not without precedent, just...nothing I've formally heard that principle photography has wrapped...)

Most big studio movies only take around 3 months for principal photography. Sure, some take longer, some take shorter amounts of time... but 6 months is actually a very long principal photography time frame. Very long. Now that being said, you are correct, VII had a long principal shoot (7 months actually May - Nov '14)... but it was broken up, and delayed at times (Ford's leg), and the level of secrecy was insane on that film (tarps over props to avoid drones, scripts locked in safes when not in use) and that slowed stuff down.
They've already begun work on VIII - set, costumes, and more. Principal on that began Feb 15th of this year.
Now, again I have to agree with you... Rogue One may not be done, we've heard nothing. But it did begin filming principal in early August. If they are still going... they are pushing 9 months. But still, we've heard nothing. Hopefully we hear something big during Star Wars Celebration in July. [Why July? May is proper.]
Eh... what was the main topic again?

Which is funny given how little original stuff was in tfa.
Nah, pretty certain that's the FFG boat driver.

Wrong on both counts.
If you don't have an actual "Wave 9 Announcement Date" put a **** question mark in the thread title!

Stand alone.
Edit: That didn't come out right. Let me try again later.

"Revenge of the Fifth"
If I remember correctly, the announcement of each Wave was within one week of the release of the previous Wave- until Wave 8.
I have a sense that Wave 9 is already being printed, and that they are simply waiting to announce it.
They may be waiting for the go ahead by Disney, they may be waiting for a major event, or... A lot of people have asked for shorter hype cylcles. They may be waiting until they are closer to release.
It's also possible that their marketing team was busy with the game they just launched last week.
Can they wait until I've gotten Wave 8

Yeah, I tried to post some statistics and numbers about these ideas earlier, but the formatting came out wrong. I think you are completely right.
I follow four metrics, just for the hell of it:
Marketing lag: Only occurs when a wave is released before the next wave is announced. We are currently in a marketing lag. It has only happened three times before.
Release time: Elapsed time between the announcement of a wave and a release of the same wave.
Announcement lag: Elapsed time between the announcement of one wave and the announcement of the next wave.
Wave lag: Elapsed time between the release of one wave and the release of the next.
Waves ii, v, vi, viii were announced either before or on the day (for wave ii) of the previous wave's release. So, about half the time, there is NO marketing lag. We are currently in a marketing lag, 18 days and counting. The LONGEST marketing lag was between Wave iii release and Wave iv announcement. That was a whopping 4 and 1/2 months(1). I doubt that will happen again.
We are also approaching the longest announcement lag ever - at 8 months and 5 days since the Wave viii announcement. The longest announcement lag was likewise between waves iii and iv, at 9 months and 3 days. By "May, the Fourth", we will have exceeded that. So, I think we are near the upper limits of how much marketing silence FFG will be comfortable with.
Furthermore, Wave viii had the longest release time ever, exceeding the previous record-holder(vi) by a FULL MONTH. And the second longest Wave Lag (I don't think wave iv's record here will ever be matched. And I'll weep for our beloved hobby if I'm ever wrong.)
Also interesting, is the three waves with the longest Marketing Lag, have had the three fastest Release Time once they were announced (all under 5 months). That last bit suggests that they are waiting for a specific marketing window rather than the production pipeline being held up. I think you are correct that wave 9 is probably ready to go to the printer if not already there. And the announcement will come either late this week (TFA home release tie-in), or May 4, just for the fluff of it, or Disney will surprise us with Rogue One teaser very soon and Wave ix will have a specific connection to that.

Iger stated in this article in February that Rogue One filming was "virtually completed" so it is a safe bet they are finished by now. Civil War releases on 4/27, so I expect a Rogue One trailer (even if just a teaser) either with that or a week-ish later on May 4th.
