Aggressive Punishment!

By Wannabe PhD, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Greetings community, I've recently acquired a JumpMaster and am attempting to integrate it into a list that doesn't devolve into Contracted Scouts loaded with proton torpedoes.

In that vein, I've come up with following (BroBots being one of my favoured lists pre wave 8)

Dengar

  • PTL, Proton Torpedoes, K4, Unhinged Astromech, Guidance Chips, Punishing One (56)

IG-88B

  • Adaptability, Mango Cannon, FCS, Autothrusters (44)

An alternative would be to drop the K4 on Dengar and upgrade the IG to have a HLC, though I'm of the opinion that the action economy is more beneficial.

Ultimately, the question I wish to ask is, is this likely to be competetive against a Wolfpack (being able to arc dodge against lower pilot skill) and the new iteration of Palp aces (this I'm less sure about)? Comments and criticism are more than welcome.

I'm not convinced that particular build has enough firepower to do well. The IG88 build seems too sparse, and you would be much better off with engine upgrade on Dengar instead of the proton torpedo. Trading torpedoes with contracted scouts is pretty much an auto-lose, so why encourage yourself to get into such a scenario?

I don't see this list doing very well against something like palp aces. You need a blocker to help jam them up for action denial. If you are expecting to fly against mostly aces you might look into putting VI on Dengar. Drop the chips and torp off Dengar as well. If you are wanting to run that then run a contracted scout it's what they are good at.

Adaptability is a nice zero cost upgrade but with the IG I'm not sure you are getting much out of it. I suggest a looking into adding on crack shot.
