Help starting with Squad Building

By lecudas, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Need y'all's help! I am new to the game - and accumulated a fairly big collection very quickly (I have at least one of everything to date, minus the Imperial Raider). The problem with that is that I feel a bit overwhelmed, as I have not had time to "get to know" each ship and upgrade individually over time.

I am about ready to start playing others at my local game store, but don't even know where to start building a competitive squad!

How do I? Any tips? Anyone have a good, favorite, winning squad list for Rebel Alliance/Empire/S&V?

Wow, I think you might end up getting over whelmed with the vast amount of options people will suggest. I think you're better off looking at what people are building on this section of the forum, and if you come across one you like just try it out.

Do you have a preference on Good/Evil/Scum? That might help you search/decide etc...

Good luck

Do you want ships that you can make a mistake with and still be pretty good, but that most people find boring?

Do you want to play with many ships or few?

Do you want to play the big ships or the small or a mix?

Do you want to play a list that needs alot of experience and skill to fly? (the earlier you learn it the faster and more fun you will have with it)

Do you want to play a list you can joust with? (fly straight ahead on the enemy and loop to charge straight ahead with again)

Um... Yes?

But if I have to choose - medium experience to fly, mix of large and small ships. Both empire and rebellion.

The best place to start is what do you WANT to fly?Winning or losing will come later, but if you are shoving around toys they better at least be the toys you think are super cool.

Otherwise you get a bunch of opinions, basically, which are/aren't relevant depending on what you see.

So what is cool to you, for instance if you think the Firespray is the coolest ship, then you are correct because that is an objective fact. Then people can suggest Firespray lists which is much more manageable.
