My biggest challenge is time. My work schedule gets crazy and unstable.
What are your challenges in this hobby?
My biggest challenge is understanding half of the slang that appears in some threads!
Well, ToG off the AVR.
I just made that stuff up
Glad you added that tiny foot note. Was beginning to scratch my head.
Locations to play is probably the biggest. Not because there isn't a local community, but because most of the players are aggressively hyper competitive and only interested in the latest 100pt tournament list they just got off the internet.

You might try to introduce the Heroes of the Aturi Cluster campaign to them. I got all the hard core tourney guys playing it every now and again. It also helps find guys that are interested in other forms of X-wing.

I sometimes get that when I'm at my local gamestore and hear gamers talk about a game I don't play.
Then I realise that probably how I sound to "normal" people. ![]()

Actually I'm beginning to think that there are no "Normal" people. There are "Gamers" and "Non-gamers" and both groups are in need of professional help.
Time to play more lists. I am new to the game. I keep buying ships, so it seems everytime I play I try out a new list. I need to play the same list multiple times to get better...but what fun is that when new toys need to be tried out. I want to getter better and someday attend some tourneys. I am primarily a wargamer, specifically ASL (Advanced Squad Leader), X wing is filler now, but moving up the pecking order, so it's slowly getting more time.
My biggest challenge right now is finding a second Y-wing... Seriously. I have been to every game shop in my state - Rhode Island is tiny - and four stores that carry the stuff. Not one **** Y-wing anywhere.

What do you need the second y-wing for?
Time, and only time.
There is an active community where I live but between two nippers (7 months and 2.5 years), a wonderful wife and a crazy busy job, finding time to indulge in a hobby that takes me away from the family during the little downtime I get can be tricky.
I spend more time repainting the models or practice games against myself when the family is in bed than against live opponents.
Doesn't diminish how much I love this game, however.
Note: this lack of time is why the Armada stuff I bought a few months back is sitting in a closet, still unopened.
**** you, time. You really are The Great Equivocator.
Edited by BojanglezTime is an issue outside of semester break, but the worst problem is definitly finding players. I am not really an open person and find it hard to aproach people and the local tabletop community is glued to WH40k.
All of the above.
I find myself falling into of not enough time or players to actually game consistently so spend too much time squad building and hanging out online. Must step away from the keyboard.

An excellent question.... I play S&V exclusively, and I have come up with a few lists that need two of them. Also, I tend to go the "Noah's Arc" route with models, and usually get two of each, although I do have four M#-A1 Interceptors and three Z-95 Headhunters.

It's not the slang from the game as much as it is from 'common'usage. One thread had the expression "is it cereal" in the title. My first thought was Lucky Charms doesn't fit into the game at all.
Just trying to actually play a game or make a tournament, that's all!
My biggest problem is stopping myself buying every bundle of ships off Ebay!!
