If you sleep with a grandmoff you even can make it to Admiral in the fleet as female, even when you miserable fail on your first contact with the rebels and lose all your fleet to basically a few prisoners. But I also don't buy a lot of what I call "modern thinking". I'm 30 years old and I've realized life is hard enough without all this societal crap bogging everyone down. I mean, isn't that why we're here, on a gaming forum? To get away from all the crazy sign wavers and politics?

On a totally unrelated note I got an email from Frank Brooks regarding Thread Tracers and Target Lock -

"A ship has to be at range 1-3 of the defender to acquire a target lock..."

Just as some of us thought.

I am fine with "crazy sign wavers" and politics. In some ways I am a crazy sign waver, just dare to ask me about american foreign politics, drone massacres against civilians or why the freaking NSA sets you on a no flight list for hosting something as trivial as a tor node. ;-)

The crazy 'part' is often added as part of blowing your stance out of proportion, because it is easier to attack a crazy person then a sound, but inconvenient argument. The whole global political system seems to focus a lot on the crazy statements of the opposing party instead on the rational ones, … and primary on those which have never been made. ;-)

We did. But some peeps were adamant that it gave you an automatic TL, even if you were out of range.

Having the discussion, whether it's the first time or the 50th isn't enough, otherwise we wouldn't need more discussion on the matter. An observation: the most upvoted posts on this topic are those agreeing with the OP that there *is* a problem with this sort of thing, or at least that we need to have a mature conversation about it.

As someone who used to frequent a lot of videogame forums, I'm used to seeing threads like this being dismissed and downplayed ('Oh, so telling a woman she is beautiful is harassment now is it?! etc.), with any dissenting voices being ridiculed and downvoted. So the very fact we're able to have this conversation at all, let alone willing to have it is somewhat reassuring.

I mean, I probably shouldn't be celebrating my community being able to condemn harassment without making excuses, but thats the world we live in.
