Nice "easy to play" list... that seems to win

By SpankoHeals, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Hello all, been visiting these forums on occasion but not really a regular. I was a fairly hardcore player of X-wing in the early days, then all the turrets kicked in and i lost a bit of interest. Recently i have started playing again with a mate and got back into semi competitive games/tourneys.

Historically i was a interceptor and phantom fan as i love their 'all or nothing' type play and their ability to dodge arcs. But since coming back to the game, i wanted a list i could play with less thought and more joust. I came up with the list below, and although it has been beaten, it seems to be overpowered to some degree.

TRAINING FLIGHT:

Three of these:

T-70 X-Wing - Blue Squadron Novice

(Integrated Astro Mech)

(R2 Astromech)

Two of these:

Z-95 Bandit Squadron Pilot

This is a simple to play list, i place the Z95's on the front with the 3 xwings behind them and go for a straight joust with the oppoaition. If this cant be done, you have 2 blockers and 3 tough brawlers all with the same pilot skill.

Probably not a world beater, but a nice easy to play squad that seems hard to beat. I am quite an experienced player, but i can see this being a decent list for people who arent world beaters.

I realise that not everyone has 3 R2 Astros... but you can use any of the 1 point mechs, although they give an advantage, they are only there as a free discard/shield token.

Thanks for reading gang, any thoughts would be great.

No love at all for this one? Haha.

I played it again last last and beat dual decimators.

I'd make a minor tweak or two to give it a bit of additional control and consistency:

Tarn Mison (23)

R3-A2 (2)

Integrated Astromech (0)

Blue Squadron Novice (24)

R2 Astromech (1)

Integrated Astromech (0)

Blue Squadron Novice (24)

R2 Astromech (1)

Integrated Astromech (0)

Bandit Squadron Pilot (12)

XX-23 S-Thread Tracers (1)

Guidance Chips (0)

Bandit Squadron Pilot (12)

Total: 100

The problem with the list is PS 2. The torpedo contracted scouts are going to be a NPE (negative play experience) for a list like this...

However, if you never face that, then its not a bad list at all.

My version of it goes with 2 blue novices w/ R2 + integrated along with 2 blues (b-wing) each with an ion cannon. The added control from ion allows the x-wings to easily flank (thus not needing to k-turn/tallon roll as much) giving you better firepower (spending your tokens offensively) and lessens return fire (since ioned ships can't turn around).

I also find it less boring to fly, since you are not strictly jousting with the enemy, although that of course is subjective...

Yeah agree with most of the feedback. It is a beginners list, as mentioned. Pretty good starters list and really easy to fly and still competitive.
