By Crabbok, in Star Wars: Armada

No announcement, no missing half of wave 3.... no hope?

... Melodramatic much?

THEY HAVE ONLY RELEASED SHIPS IN NOVEMBER AND ANNOUNCED SHIPS IN APRIL. THIS GAME IS DEAD BECAUSE THEY AREN'T FORCIBLY SHOVING A LARGE SHIP INTO MY LEFT NOSTRIL EVERY 20 SECONDS! EVERYONE RUN, IT'S ALL OVER.

Edit: Far be it for me to be the one actually calling for more heavy-handed moderation of forums, but in agreement with the posters beneath me (and to avoid adding a post to bump this back up), are we at the point where we should ask Mr. Evan to start obliterating these threads? It just clutters up the forum for people who, you know, actually want to obsess about Armada while we are at work.

WHY DO THESE THREADS STILL EXIST!!!!!!!!

If you honestly think its dead.

Then let it lie and move on already.

"Officially" Dead is something that's getting to me, now...

Is there, like, a Games Coroner that we can go to, so they can pronounce it dead and provide a certificate stating so? Or must we just go with 'rumoured' dead or 'believed to be' dead, until such time.

Even if it is dead... Why bother putting anything like this up at all? All you're doing is walking around its grave saying "Have you heard its dead? What are you still doing here, losers ..."

Seems like completely a **** move to me.

....

AAARGH THE DEATH-BALL IT BURNS, I HAVE SPENT TOO MUCH TIME OUTSIDE OF THE RULES SUB FORUM... I'M MELTING.... MELLLLL-TIIIIING....

Cool when it goes to the discount corner I'll pick me up some boats.

The game is dead after being out for 10 months. *Rolls eyes*

You know most games don't ever make it to the top five selling games in its category let alone doing it within its first year of release. (X-Wing sure as hell didn't.) If you think it's dead you need to check that entitlement.

(Most new ventures take 5 years to become actually profitable and Armada did it in 6 months. Armada is FFG's second cash cow so no, it is most definitely not dead.)

Games never die. I still play Games like rouge trader and its been out of print since 1990 but its not dead and never will be.

I think if the main page had some articles and some official love maybe some hints to stir the lot the anger threads would die a bit...

There will always be people to play armada. Just look at warhammer fantasy (which GW screwed over) even though they stopped making the models people are still playing the game.

At this point, even in the unlikely case FFG would cease supporting Armada, it really wouldn't matter much. We have the excellent ruleset and enough models from shapeways and user-made cards to keep us busy for years to come.

You're about two weeks late for the doom and gloom, man. All the Armadapocalypse prophets already exploded and either calmed down or moved on.

100% dead. You can go about your business

move along

I would nott say dead it is just in hybernation...Soon the game will awaken and evolve itself to a new unique cinematic gameplay...I was quite disappointed upon seeing the 2 diff small ships...This was what the majority of the community have been asking for...So it is what it is and have to accept that fact...Really have to look ouside the box and see the need to add to the game without increasing the space needed to play...Granted I would have been elated to see more Mon Calamari ships and Imperial cruisers...

I have seen 5 big collections sold before and 7 after the Wave 3 anouncement...Needless to say it was just a change of the gaurd so to speak...Oddly enough they were nott melted down and urinated on...

as others have said even if it is dead, which I don't think it is, we have an amazing game as is. I do think the lack of support comparatively is concerning and I do think Armada is not even close to the forefront of FFGs agenda right now.

I do think Armada is not even close to the forefront of FFGs agenda right now.

Its not.

Organised Play, is.

That's what they were pimping at GAMA.

I think this is a really smart move by FFG. I've never been into this kind of thing but have really gotten the bug with the Store Championships this year. Having this kind of support for tournaments and separating the Star Wars property into its own tier is a huge investment that will pay off.

But what if we dont live in the US...

But what if we dont live in the US...

Then you should look at the fact that Organised Play extends outside of it...

Now, I'm not saying it extends everywhere ...

But there are Non-US Options.

Hell, I'm, not even in the US.

Then its all based on Markets... The next biggest Market is Europe, and with this new Organised Play, comes things for Europe too...

The only place that, 1) Has an established large Market, and 2) isn't really represented at the moment, is Australia .

Organised Play is thusly handled by FFG inside the United States, and by Distributors outside of it...

If you want to have a larger hand in Organised Play, then you find out who your FFG Distributor is for your Country... (FFG will tell you!) And you work it out with them...

There will be Local Stores who do things, or at least, who have access to said Distributors...

And you know what, if you end up living in Bahrain or something where there iusn't a distributor, and isn't a local store, and if you are still pimping the game , then Submit to FFG's Media department ... They will make a massive deal out of it on your behalf, because that is what they want to see from the organised play platform. That it is encompassing and expanding , - and if it makes a new point of contact for them... Fantastic .

Giving up gets you nowhere.

Well it's dead in Orlando it seems. Used to play every weekend. And for the record we have like 8+ game stores that have people playing games every week. X-Wing is played nonstop. But people are selling their Armada stuff left and right. Armada tournaments are non-existent anymore. The last one had 3 people show up. And it was the only tournament in months.... but only 3 people showed up. Sucks. Everyone I talk to feels exactly the same.

Surprising that so many people who post on the forums have the opinion that FFG is "Giving our wallets a break", or that releasing more product is somehow a bad thing... yet I've never actually met a person in real life who feels that way. Very odd...

And I feel really Sad and Sorry for you if that is the case.

Truly, I do .

But also Truly, Orlando is not the World, and its not the game...

If things are being Sold, then they're being bought ...

It is doing successfully somewhere, and that somewhere is apparently enough to make it a best-selling game.

When the only gaming Store closed in Bairnsdale, back when I was younger and living in Australia... There was literally not a single reseller of anything Gaming related for a Five Hour Drive in each Direction... Even Online sales were patchy, as the Postal Service didn't offer Parcel Service for almost 6 months of the year reliably...

But you either Give Up, or you Forge Anew.

Bairnsdale birthed BADGaming. A Club that went on to win the Victorian InterClub Challenge in 40K against all other State Clubs - including the Big University Clubs in the Capital City... All without nary a stockist or a store , or a place to routinely play before My Wife and I got the ball rolling...

So in short, I'm sorry you feel like the game is ending for you. But if it is, its ending for you . Not for everyone else.

If the scene is "dead" or non-existent, make a scene. Work with your LGS's, find out what the issue was and find a way to fix it.
