Roberts Rebellion Expansion Brainstorming

By Caverius, in General Discussion

Hi, yesterday i was thinking about how cool would be to make some decks themed after roberts rebellion.

Maybe with just 2 factions instead of 8. One being a combination of Baratheons, Starks, Tullys and Arryns serving as the Rebel faction, while the other composed of targaryen, martells and tyrells would be the loyalist factions. The lannisters and greyjoys could appear serving as neutral cards, especially the lannisters.

I think it would be a super cool thing for ffg to do, since roberts rebellions was such an epic and massve conflict that in my opinion could compare to the war of 5 kings in scale. And it presents such a plethora of interesting characthers that i would like to see represented in the card game. Such as the old kingsguard, jon connington, jon arryn, Brandon Stark, and obviously Rhaegar and young robert.

I'm sure I'm not the first one to have this idea, so I would like to know who else though about it, and what are their opinions in the matter as well as their attemps to represent such a rich period of westerosi history

Would be nearly impossible to balance in regular play, but I could see some custom decks for a custom format type of thing going. They've done variant events with custom rules before: Hand of The King, Civil War, Clash of Kings.

Oh really when?

I would be thrilled to see that

Civil war was a variant introduced in the Martell box. Basically an enormous tower of monofaction and neutral deck that all players use. Each player has a Renown-bearing Character of similar cost range as his general--I played it at Days of Ice & Fire 2013, that was Dany vs Jorah vs Jhogo vs Barristan Selmy.

Hand of the King is similar, but Joust. You have one unique character that starts in play and IIRC gets som benefits for being truly hard to kill.

Clash of Kings was a team variant at DoI&F 2012, where teams played to 30 power total, the teams pool their plot decks to create a 7-card hybrid, with all members treating it as their revealed plot. You played for control of various Westeros cities, with victory going to the team who controls the most points' worth. I have the full rules for this one, they're kind of hard to find, and am currently updating them for a convention I'm working on.
