Ships optimiced for 150 pts play

By Hexdot, in X-Wing

Lets chat about that ships that are limited in a 100 pts game but could do better in a 150 pts game. Not about 3 Brobots.

Per example, K wing. In my opinion they are very goods shiose, but put simply the 100 pts World means death to expensive bombers. And Miranda, point by point, is so goos that you wants her in your squad. So no enought pts to buy Wardwn wing mate.

Some ships are even better in Epic play, but I think the 150 pts realm is the optimal game mode to play K wings.

The K-wing was the most powerful ship from the last wave. It's one of the rebel's best ships. It runs as a control ship, a regen ace, the best bomber in the game, and the single best alpha strike ship in the game.

It is in a very good spot at 100pts!

P.S.

Control ship:

Warden Squadron Pilot (31) K-Wing (23), Twin Laser Turret (6), Tactician (2)

Regen ace:

Miranda Doni (38)
K-Wing (29), Twin Laser Turret (6), C-3PO (3)

Best bomber in X-Wing:

Warden Squadron Pilot (34) K-Wing (23), Sabine Wren (2), Proximity Mines (3), Advanced SLAM (2), Conner Net (4)

Best Alpha strike in X-wing:

Miranda Doni (45)
K-Wing (29), Twin Laser Turret (6), Extra Munitions (2), Assault Missiles (5), C-3PO (3), Guidance Chips (0)

Airen Cracken (20)
Z-95 Headhunter (19), Crack Shot (1)

Jan Ors (35)
HWK-290 (25), Crack Shot (1), Twin Laser Turret (6), Moldy Crow (3)

Where does the K-Wing fall into place as far as alpha striking compared to the contracted scout? I was fairly certain that the scout had it beat in terms of alpha strikes... at PS3 with an Elite Talent, it doesn't need a lock on its target, compared to a PS2 warden.

I'd say many of the "support" ships that would normally see little play in today's 100 pts, migth actually fit well into that format.

Named Lambdas like ST 321 Jendon, the upcoming TIE Shuttle with Fleet Officer, Kyle, Jan (ship or crew) and the like. Perhaps Biggs airbag to protect some valuable target(s), etc.

Basically anything that can give actons or tokens to your aces for free.

But then again, seeing what's this game coming down to - that'd be 4th U-boat and some spare points or bigger Crackswarm.

<_<

Did the K-wing upsurt the X-wing in 150 points?

I'm far more likely to run Talonbane Cobra in a 150 list. He is a hard-hitting 9 that rounds out that list nicely.

Definitely Etahn A'baht. Gets better the more enemy ships there are on the board.

3 Brobots is off limits? How about all four with tractor beam and adaptability?

Pffft, it's not even 6 Sigma Squadron Phantoms.

gut gud scrubs

****, I jumped in here to say '3 Brobots!' and clearly was shut down in the second sentence.

Pretty much every middling PS or 2nd tier ace gets better the less each point matters. I think 150 is pretty sweet for tie bombers, punishers, and lambdas as you can afford to spend an extra few points on them to make sure they're doing something.

Bombs also get better overall when there are more ships to bomb and more bombs to be brought.

Optimiced? lol

Did the K-wing upsurt the X-wing in 150 points?

Not yet, but again I say delay the point creep as long as possible.

We play a lot of 150 points here, and I'll say I think the game really shines at that point level, mostly because Aces are a lot harder to fly well. It's a lot easier to get a bead on an arc-dodger simply because you have half again as many fire arcs to splay across the board. And let me just say, a 12 TIE swarm is a brutal list at 150 points.
