VT-49 Imperial Decimator Deck Plans

By DiggityDug, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

It's not a long-duration ship, is it? At most you'd have 4 crew, and then you'd have the troops being transported.

Then of course you don't rotate 3 shifts on a ship like this. At most your rotate 2.

In FFG's write-up, it has half the Consumables and roughly half the cargo capacity of the YT-1300. That could be because it's designed to hold more troops, but the write-up doesn't give it those.

Those are some spacious crew bunks. About 4' x 7'5". I'd expect crew bunks to be closer to only about 2'x6' or thereabouts. They could also be triple bunks in height, freeing up floor space for everyone. 3 triple bunks would allow for 27 people to sleep in given that 1/3 of the crew would be on duty, 1/3 off duty and awake, and 1/3 sleeping.

So you guys understand that the Decimator is only slightly larger than the Millennium Falcon?

Wookiepedia lists the Decimator at 38 meters, the Falcon is 34 meters. You can fly the falcon with 2 people, just like the Decimator. Why the heck would you need 27 people sleeping aboard the Decimator? We saw how crowded the Falcon was with 7 (Han, Chewie, Leia, Luke, Obi-wan, and the two droids) Could you imagine it with 27 people on board? This ship is small freighter sized.

So absolutely if you wanted to you could replace the double bunks with triple bunks, and replace the ships stores with more bunks, but your taking what is effectively at 2-5 man ship and stuffing it full of people. That's why I designed the cargo bay as it is, you could use it as a troop transport (with the fold out seats), or to haul cargo, or keep some racks of speeder bikes in there. It is a good RPG sized ship. If your player party has a pilot and co pilot, you can fly this ship, its got space for everyone to have bunks. You could replace the (personal fantasy spacious) captains quarters with bunk beds for the bridge crew, but then again, there will usually only be 2-5 people on the ship, because its the size of the Falcon. I only put 5 seats in the ship because the Falcon has 4, and some RPG groups run a bit larger than that.

The Falcon wasn't that crowded with 7 people, only when everyone tried to cram into the 4 seat bridge did it appear crowded (since they all were forward to be seen by the camera). And you missed my original point. Those are huge beds for a small freighter to carry. Especially a ship that is supposedly used by the military that would gladly sacrifice comfort for other equipment.

The Decimator is just poorly designed by FFG in the game.

Interesting fact the YT-1300 has variable cargo space anywhere from 25 tons to 100 tons.

How much cargo it carried depended on how you configured the interior space and interestingly enough the Falcon has one of the lower amounts due to most of the cargo being taken up by interior comforts.

I hate to necro such an old thread, but I was wondering if DiggityDug happened to have the original files without the photobucket watermark? It obscures some of the rooms on the ship, and I wanted to see if I could make a printout of it for an imperial campaign I’m going to be running soon.
