Hi guys

Love the YV model and finally managed to acquire one this week

I've tried it on vassal as follows:

Slaver with dengar, greedo and bobba with 2 contracted scouts built as torpedoe boats - it did ok but due to my flying became a target of opportunity for my opponent

So my questions are, how do you build it? Is it worth taking bossk and maximising his ability or better to go cheap and cheerful? Also, what do you fly with it?

super bossk eats over half of roster, and likes having VI Fett to help him blast aces and outmanevuer noobs

amoralo eval is a super-damage dealer who EATS ANYTHING in his sights and he loves TLT-Ys to help deal with non-aces

Do you not worry about alpha strikes (particularly on the form of 3 scouts) deleting either bossk/fett in the one list or a tlt on the other before they can do anything?

EU bossk and Fett say "LOL BOOST" and get into R1.

boost is epicly good on large base ships.

and 12 hp bossk is a ridiculously fat whale to gun, while fett is a monster R1 brawler with all the re-rolls

once he even managed to survive 11 turns in a row surviving EVERYTHING thrown at him.

I love my YV-666 and have had great success flying them. The trick IMO is to keep them fairly cheap. A Trandoshan Slaver with Gunner and Bossk is a solid investment that works in many lists. I also have plans to try a slaver with 4-Lom, Zuckuss and Dengar. Will probably not hit as hard as the Gunner + Bossk combo but should make up for it by being cheaper and its ability to mess with enemy defence dice.

The other good thing about the Slaver/Gunner/Bossk combo is it is stress resistant - even if you do a full stop, if you miss with the first shot you'll have a Target Locked/Focused second shot (and the stress from Bossk doesn't stack).

Other notable tricks:

  • Inertial Dampeners so you can surprise an opponent (and cause serious traffic jams) by pulling off two full stops in a row. Add Feedback Array/Anti Pursuit Lasers for bumping hilarity.
  • Weapons Engineer/K4 on Latts Razzi
  • Maneuvering Fins can be surprisingly useful on the higher PS pilots, giving you an amazing firing arc

Go cheap it is a magnet for fire and won't last super long, ideally have a bigger threat with better defence by its side.

Currently driving Lattz Razzi with Bossk, Gunner, 4-LOM and Inertial Dampeners. All of the Bossk/Gunner goodness with the option to disable a token and/or reduce agility on the second shot.

I like Lattz Razzi w/ K4 and weapons engi. Add "Gonk" if you have the points left. I have found use for Tansarii Vets with adapt and tractor. Tractor first then latts opens up. -2 agil hurts most anything. Run with a U-boat for more fun.

What about something along the lines of:

Moralo - HLC, 4-LOM, Tactician - 44

Zuckuss - Juke, Mist Hunter, Tractor Beam

N'dru - Lone Wolf, Cluster Missiles, Glitterstim, Guidance Chips

If the opponent focuses Moralo then N'dru can swoop in to knock something out

If they focus N'dru then Moralo can keep hitting with HLC

Zuckuss takes evade every turn in case he takes some fire and use Juke to help push some damage through - if Zuckuss is focused then the other two can do their thing

That's probably about right. YV-666's are good fun and you can make some great combinations with the Scum crew and illicit upgrades, but even with GONK they tend to go down quickly in the face of concentrated fire. Personally I think they're definitely more Slim Shuttle than Fat Han.

I try to limit my builds with them to around 40-45 points, max.

The VI Bossk/Boba with Tacticians is surprisingly effective and fun to fly, rewarding well timed mad dashes into point blank range. Don't bother with Cannons, Bossks ability is just icing on his pilot skill. It suffers pretty hard against TLTs, and I have yet to put it up against the Wolfpack but think one Bumpmaster could cause it to sink.

Against pretty much everything else, though, it can put in some serious work.

For more casual fare, Triple Slavers or a Loaded Hounds Tooth Buzzsaw (Bossk/Gunner) Latts (she can still use her ability from the Z95) and a souped up Moralo with HLC are both a lot of fun and a serious amount if heavily modified dice. Wouldn't bring it to a tournament, but still good stuff.

Love my YV-666. It's a build that just got a bit better with the last expansions. I call him The Pirate Captian (The Pirates. Band of Misfits.) I use him when my friend has been talking poop and has a build that he said would counter it. It did pretty darn well. 1 loss and 5 wins.

My new favorite thing is a Slaver with Dengar, Zuckuss, and 4-LOM. My experience is that it gets damage through on aces more effectively than the classic Gunner + Bossk, and it's also cheaper. Plus it does much more damage against low-agi targets, where Gunner + Bossk would often hit for 1 damage and never trigger either crew.

The Slaver with Dengar, Zuckuss, and 4-LOM will quickly give itself big piles of stress, but that's fine -- its damage is incredibly reliable even without actions. I fly it with debris, so it also doesn't care much about (at least half of the) obstacles.

For the rest of the list... a couple torpedo scouts is the obvious choice, but I've been trying to find something more interesting than that. I'm having trouble, though -- what makes for a strong 66 points of Scum these days that isn't Contracted Scouts? I've tried including a second YV-666, but it's just so much weaker without all the unique crew.
