Ok my mate is flying decimator with darth vader and has a major hull breach. now the landed in a discussion about dealing vs suffer damage. when he activates Darth vaders ability does he get 2 normal damage or does hull breach kick in also?

Major Hull Breach states that "all Damage cards dealt to you are faceup." It doesn't matter where those cards come from.
Just remember that is happens next round, not in the round you got the Major Hull breach card.
