Just A Friendly Reminder...

By Ardaedhel, in Star Wars: Armada

I understand, I just fundamentally disagree.

People are always walking away from the game. Its what happens with the game. Doesn't matter what the game is. The game could be releasing everything that is said people want, and people will still be walking away from the game - probably because there's too much stuff around.

The thing is, people often super-inflate their own importance, and the perceived importance of that act.

What else could we take as a sign that all is well?

A Strategy Guide on how to play? Well, Sure, you might take that as a point that the game is supported and it is going to continue, but I guarantee that someone else will take an article like that to mean, "Well, Sure, they're just stringing on every last bit they can now, and its already dead..."

I can point that out, since, y'know, that happened in between Wave 1 and Wave 2, where we got those basic strategy articles, and people derided them as that... Things we already knew, or too little too late.

You will never get a consensus on line, especially with a forum format, because, frankly, we all mean squat.

All you can look at, free of emotion, free of opinion, is raw numbers.

Raw Numbers say Armada is Selling.

Dead Things Don't Sell. By Very Definition.

A Dead Game Can't sell.

Or its not Dead.

I'm not saying it is dead....? I'm saying that if a game is that healthy worldwide seriously you spend more time at least acknowledging it? That's all I'm saying, I think you're thinking I'm in the doom and gloom group, I'm not. Just stating that one article, in what I believe is more than 6 months, not sure on that though, can be concerning if you want this to be your main game you play. If you want comparable support then your time and money might be better spent elsewhere. For me this is my game, I've seen a lot of players drop but that hasn't deterred me. I'm extremely excited about the flotillas and think they will add a ton to the game

Anyone else think that Drasnighta should be hired to moderate the forums here?

Seconded. It now moves to a vote. All in favor say I.

Nay.

Honestly, who cares if people want to leave the game. If they wanna walk out on their investment simply because they don't think that the company that makes the game cares about it as much as they feel they should, then whatever.

Armada IS in a good place right now. Both in regards to the amount of content, the community, the sales, everything.

It is the second best selling FFG minis game, and third best in the industry right now (I saw stats on this, but I may be incorrect / this info may be outdated). Considering the lack of official news, the problems with the production and distribution last year, etcetera, the fact that its doing so well seems to run in the face of this crap about armada dying off.

I get it that people are disappointed that they can't buy a Liberator or an Interdictor or TIE Defenders. I am too.

What I am not is letting this disappointment get in the way of my enjoyment of the game. I played three games of Armada yesterday. I used a list that I've never used before. I played against 2 people I have never played against before, and my regular opponent. I played against three lists that I have never seen before. And I play quite a bit.

When Wave 3 is released it will add a major new factor to the game and to lists. I am quite excited to see to what extent it shakes things up.

FFG doesn't do news. They don't respond to forum complaints or people whining and/or selling their collection.

Armada makes them money. They're going to continue making it. They said last fall that they were already working on Wave 4. It will happen. And so will Wave 5. And 6. And 7.

Here's an idea. If you want articles about tactics or list building or strategies, try making a forum topic. Listen to some podcasts. Talk with the people you play with. Try a new list or two. Talk about the success or failure of said list on the forums. Solicit opinions. Refine. Compete. Play on Vassal if you can't find a local group to play with.

FFG makes games. The community is ancillary to them. (And I use that very loosely as a GW-veteran. If you think that FFG ignores its players and neglects official news for their games, then try going to play 40k).

If you want to engage the community, you gotta do it yourself. Can we calm down?
