Paul Heaver stole my list....

By Rasseman83, in X-Wing

See, what I do is I build a list on the Unofficial X-Wing Squadron Builder (xwing-builder.co.uk) and if doesn't say "This squadron has never been built before!" then I don't fly it.

lol - Seems more folks use Yet Another squadron builder more than that one. I like and use both though.

Why is this a good list again? I don't get it. It hits weakly.

Not really, it hits harder than it looks anyway. Omega Leader hits harder than you'd think his 2 dice would thanks to Juke and his Pilot ability, the Inquisitor rolls three dice at all ranges and ignores Autothrusters while having solid action economy and defense, and with Palpatine in the list Wampa pretty reliably just deals a damage card through shields and defense dice if he gets to shoot, making him a very high priority target for lists with certain pilots as he creates a field of fire they do not want to enter(Soontir, regenerating rebel aces, etc.). And then the shuttle still throws out a 3 Attack primary while it has things in arc.

I played against a list a lot like that one, but it had Colzet instead of the Inquisitor. The list was vulnerable to BBBBZ.

This list does just kind of fall into place. I accidentally made it myself. It's basically just caused by there being 6 aces to run with Palpatine with pretty standardized builds right now and 71 points to play with. You rip out Vader/Soontir, add the Inquisitor, and quickly find that 35+36 = 31+14+26.

murders the crap outta aces and brobots with Inq, Omega L and Wampa

no thrusters/range 3

no dice mods of any kind

no dice period

does kinda plink off of jumpmasters. Guess you'd need inq and soonts

^ This. I've flown the original one (with Vader) since the Tie/FO and raider hit as a palp/ace/brobot counter. It hits weakly, but reliably which is often enough to pop a poe or a soontir. It obviously hurts a lot against high HP targets and should struggle a lot with the new wave 8 meta.

Oh, and OP: I flew it to semifinals in the Swedish championship back in January and I recall having several chats with people who'd come up with the same list. Sorry to burst your bubble :)

Everyone invented this list. It's been around.

This is why the term "netlisting" shouldn't exist and used to condemn anyone.

Don't tell the top boards in day 1 at the Hoth Open it struggles in the new Wave 8 meta. Sounds like many of the top 16 today were different variations on Palp-Aces with Wampa!!!

I invented this list right after I saw this thread.

The Inquisitor with PTL, title and thrusters is here to stay. So **** aggressiv and sturdy.

The Inquisitor build is the new Soontir build, it's just the best mods to put on it and anything else detracts from the ship.

I was going to call shenanigans, as our Lord flies Rebels.

But then it was true

I do sympathise a little.

I was pretty pleased with a certain setup for palp aces for a while... Then it came second at worlds. Got a bit harder to use after that. :P

Paul Heaver root of all evil confirmed.

It's won at least 3 store championships (I want to say an Aussie one, California, and Massachusetts). I think everyone just kind of realized it would be a good list.

And yes, the PS8 thing is definitely a problem. I can usually handle one PS9+ ace in an opposing list, but when there are multiple, it becomes a lot harder to tie them down.

Yeah, that was Morgan who won an Australian SC with it.

I came up with something very similar. I prefer Juke on The Inquisitor though unless he has TIE Engine Mk 2.

... Which he won't, because ATs offer too much synergy with his ability to ignore.

I've been running this list with Vader VI and Adv Tgt Comp (31 pts) in place of the Inquisitor for some time now and placed 3rd in a 60 place SC.

Not exactly a revolutionary list. (edit: more evolutionary)

I came up with the exact same list too. Call the thought police!!! You guys are stealing from my brain!!!! :P

I flew this list yesterday at the Hoth Open, since it is what I have been running after Wave 8 dropped. I was running the VI Vader version before that. I went 3-3 with it and may have made Day 2, but in the final round, I went in too aggressively with the Inquisitor and he got dropped. I then lost Wampa and the shuttle trying to take down a Stresshog. At the end, I had a 1 health Omega Leader vs. full health Ezra Shuttle and full health Poe. I tried to stick in as long as I could, but it was an uphill battle. I changed my tactics for the final round because of the TLTs and it cost me my opportunity to play on Day 2.

Too bad they all got chewed up by Ryan Fleming's contractors in the semifinals. Seriously, he's knocked out 3 palp aces in the last four hours. How? By blocking, and lack of damage output from the aces. Durrhurr.
