I have been very tempted by the Neb-B2. Would love it as a raider stand-in (not a fan of how the raider looks)
I need some Assault Frigates, and want the Jedi Cruiser.
I blew up some of the photos I took of my Venator to give you an idea of what quality costs. I've held the white frosted detail and frankly you couldn't pay me to even take it...or paint it. You lose all detail and it basically is crap.
I shelled out the dough for the Venator and the V-wings in the highest detail because I want my models to be the best they can be....so be advised DO NOT skimp on the detail or suffer the fate of so many a gamer "ugh well I coulda spent 40 more and it'd been dope."
The only issues I've had with Ultra Detailed is the recesses can get a bit...rough...you just need to work with it, carved it slightly and accept it's not gonna be 100% smooth in some areas. Remember the goal here is 3 foot rule straight up...even the FFG models aren't perfect.
Also be aware that wave 4 could be announced...or wave 3 could get more so ask yourself "okay what ship will most likely be added, which one wont." I struggled with the Venator for about three months before I caved when I realized they wouldn't add it. However...it's obvious they will add the Liberty cruiser and the Assault Frigate Mk 1 at some point...those are given ships.
For me...I want character to my fleet so that means adding clone wars ships repainted in GCW colors...I'm toying around with the idea of getting one of these and using it as a supped up carrier MC80:
Again the fighters are great but if you don't wanna be holding the bag on stuff that will eventually get released...get clone wars stuff or EU stuff they made non-canon.

Yeah high end is the only way to go with shapeways, every person I've spoken with here or on the x-wing/armada mods facebook says the same exact thing.
I may get the assault frigate that Utar made, if FFG goes with an AFMK1 it'll be the wizards dual prow version from force unleashed.
It is entirely possible that Shapeways Ships and Images, if not links, were responsible for not only the deletion of Mel's thread (twice), but also the deletion of the old Painting Thread... (Although that second point is questionable).

FFG can read my lines here, they put out ships I want I'll buy em in droves...fug I have 3 victories.
If they did a Venator I'd buy 3 for sure...they know what their customer base wants...they don't wanna do clone wars...fine but people will find a way to do what they enjoy.

I could see Disney making a stink of these models being produced but FFG cant say anything because they are just star wars models that happened to be scaled for this game. However the stands that are used for the models could fall under copyright because they are designed by FFG.

If it is a licensed image of Disney and someone makes money off the production of it....it's a violation of their IP...pretty simple

Any plans on doing an Allegiance Class ISD, Tectar Class ISD, or an ISD Interdictor variant? Heck I would love a First Order Star Destroyer Finalizer model. You have some amazing models on their and I love the New Republic ships!
