New Player MF and Z95 swarm

By Girshin, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Hey, newbie here hoping for some feedback on a list I'm curious about.

Chewbacca (52) YT-1300 (42),

Veteran Instincts (1),

R2-D2 (4),

Millennium Falcon (1),

Shield Upgrade (4)

Bandit Squadron Pilot (12) x 4

--------------------------------------

The idea is to play a defensive Millenium Falcon (Anvil) with a swarm (Hammer). The idea is then to play at range 3 with the MF and absorb hits

and regen with R2D2, while positioning the Z95 swarm with its 8 dice to take out priority targets.

I believe that old fat Han had a similiar idea but with, well Han and then some B-wings? The Z95's bring more dice to the table though.

So my questions are:

1. Z95's worth it as a swarm?

2. Will R2D2 bite me in the keister?

3. I expect a wide variety of lists to play against. What are the strengths and weaknesses of this list?

Cheers for any feedback in advance :P

*bump*

No comments, that bad huh?

I have flown a decimator plus 4 tie fighters on the empire side. It's a good list. Bread and butter with out many tricks. Since I had vader+gunner on the decimator it really helped the swarm with arc dodging aces. With the rebel version you'll probably have to block well with the z's to prevent aces from putting the list on its back. It's great fun though and should be good to learn with.

The list tears apart low agility ships, because multiple focused attacks tend to cause hits. Against a jousting list keep the falcon out of harms way and you should do well (of course keep shooting with the falcons 360 arc). For turrets (y-wings) keep your z's healthy and you should burn em down. Aces as I said gives you problems, 3 dice primary vs 3 agillity autothrusters doesn't work out favorably. Regen should be a fair match, just focus fire. Ordnance really scares the falcon, but the z's could care less.

Thanks for the reply. Now to learn the intricacies of blocking <_<

The best way that I got better at blocking was just learning what all the dials look like.

If you really want to squeeze every ounce of efficiency out of this list: drop VI and reduce Shield Upgrade to hull. Now, you know your local scene better than we do, so maybe there are a bunch of PS6 guys out there you're trying to scoop. Generally, however, the return on going from PS5 to 7 is very small. As for the shield upgrade, Chewbacca's pilot ability meansthat a hull upgrade is as effective as shield, and one point cheaper. Plus you want to run out of shields earlier so that you can start getting R2 regen sooner.

That frees up 2 points, but that doesn't give us much. Lone Wolf is no good with this many ships on the board. Intel Agent... except you have no way to reposition, so you don't get much out of him. Worth considering: Leebo. Boost is just so good on big ships, even with Chewie's middling pilot skill, and your mod slot's taken by the Hull. As a big ship you can boost once for free without the drawback hurting you, and hopefully you can plan around the turn you eat the ion.

Or just drop the hull upgrade and grab Gunner. Action-independent offense is always a hooray.

Chewbacca does not work with R2-D2, you pile up a lot of crits for those shields, which can not be canceled by chewie.

And I guess I would prefer a fat han + 3 headhunters or at least some lando with 4 headhunters over chewie.

I like Z-95s though for your list, I feel like dropping 1 an adding missles to the other 3 might be a better way to roll. It will provide 21 dice in one round of shooting,(2x3 from each missile and the extra from chewie)

Also I feel Like Push the Limit with Falcon title to have focus and dodge each turn would be better, seeing that the extra dodge will give you more life then R2D2 with the Engine Upgrade to get you to more places. nien Numb is a beast for clearing stress. The Thread Tracers will give the Z-95s an amazing strike with the Cluster Missiles and help with the 1 point that is outstanding.

@SEAPocalypse: Well bummer on the R2D2 and Chewie interaction. I might just do a Han instead then and do a more offensive build with the MF.

@ChahDresh: Gunner seems very popular with the YT1300, might just have to go that route with Han and be more offensive but that has been done to death.

@Cubanboy: Now we are talking, Cluster Missiles sound fun :P Off course, each Z95 I lose hurts more then..

My main question has been answered though, the Z95's are workable and so I feel confident investing in them now. Already own the MF (first thing I bought!)
