Hoth Open reports?

The Rebels are behind the other two factions by the slimmest of margins in total numbers at the #HothOpen! #XWing

Interesting breakdown! Thanks @FFGOP!

That is a very satisfying split.

Sort of, but only if the top cut is somewhat close to those numbers.

I expect it to be 50+% Imperial, 35+% Scum, and <=15% Rebels from what I am hearing about it.

Meaning Imperial would be over-performing, Scum performing as expected, and Rebels under performing.

Which is scary given that the TIE Defender is going to be a big deal when it comes out gets its fix too,

You ninja'd me - i was just about to make a similar comment. Seeing the top cut distribution will be interesting.

This might not be a true indicator either depending on the level of player and what they decided to bring. With 250 players or so I'd like to see the top 25% or about 60 lists and players.

I spoke to the guy who ran that list. It is five of seinar adv prots with guidance chips and proton rockets.

That actually sounds terrifying/fun.

I am surprised at the high number of Ghosts more than the low number of Attack Shuttles. 4 Dice is great and all, but I for one wouldn't be super excited about bringing it when a good bit of the meta will be ordinance.

Toss Hera and FCS on, and you've got an Aggressor.

Aside from the 3 Agility and lack of boost/Autothrusters and the Gunner ability, sure.

EDIT: And the sloops. Almost forgot about those.

With Hera crew, getting into Range 1 isn't exactly that difficult.

i agree - buff imperials ffg clear rebel favoritism i cant believe this bs

I wouldn't be overly worried about the distribution. All of this is justa theory so take it with some salt:

People expected tons of U-boats, so many meta-savvy top players brought Imperial Aces as the lists that counters U-boats best while still doing good against everything else. By the looks of it (top 4 and 9 in top 16 Imperials after first day) it's working. If this trend continues, many people will stop bringing U-boats because they will get tired of getting destroyed by Imperial Aces. This, in turn, will allow Rebel lists, which presumably do better vs. Imperial Aces but get destroyed by U-boats to reach the top again.

This is very true.

I don't think folks will stop bringing u-boats just like folks never totally stopped bringing quad thug tlt lists. Some will still bring them anyway. It is good to see new ships from wave 8 seeing play time even if it is just for now through regionals or however long they last.

Meta shift like this is good for the game as a whole.

this omega leader wampa inquisitor build does quite a number on most rebel lists as well.

Destroys Corran and Poe

Eats up fat ships

Shrugs off TLTs

B-wings die quick

Where I see it having issues is against lists like Marcus McCallister's K-Wings now with Sabine. Palp doesn't help you against bombs

But I am kind of glad for the change, its making me really look at my lists and think, how the heck do I kill wampa in one turn...

We will need to see a lot more results before we can draw real conclusions.

Let me say this though: i have always said that Palpmobile is one of the best builds out there, and this when we had endless discussions about Rebel dominance, shield regeneration and stressbot:op! And that just because worlds, where rebels did not even overperform was won by a rebel list.

Now Palpmobile is still a top list and there are even some more variations of it now.

Empire will now get further buffed by Veterans release, so my prediction is that they will be quite dominant in the near future. But i hope that people don't start whining again unless we really see one faction not having any competitive options anymore or one build winning literally everything (like at the time of Phantoms).

The better question is how many of those jumpmasters are in triple u-boat lists. With 34 ships, that could be a mere 12 players if all but 1 had 3 jumpmasters (though I've seen a couple pictures of lists with single jumpmasters, so it's clearly not ALL triple uboats for the ship)

Edit: Nevermind, just realized it was number of players, not jumper of ships.

Edited by VanderLegion

Yup I definitely did not read that. Grayfax, I really don't think there are that many palp shuttles there anymore.

I assume there are 102 Jumpmasters in the event. ;)

Two rounds to go... need more updates...

Heck, I'm going to have to start finding a way to go to major events just to be a reporter!

Right!? I promise to live tweet the regionals I'll be at.

Wait wait, day 1 saw someone fly the syck, but not the Starviper? And then day 2 saw yet another syck and not a punisher?? Who's running these sycks, what is this list?

For those of you asking if they are showing any new ships. No, imperial aces is the only thing expected. Your welcome :P

Also, jumpmasters. Jumpmasters everywhere. Equal amounts of 3 Uboat swarms and manaroos from what I've seen

AHA! Finally, here is our proof that Rebels, Scum, and Imperials are all overpowered!!!

Bah! Seeing top results on Twitter but can't post from my phone...
