Availability of ship parts

By Hrathen, in Rogue Trader

Maybe I'm just looking in the wrong place, but in the aqusition section of the book it says that the availability of ship parts is in the starship chapter and then gives some further aquisition penalties based on what type of component it is. My first inclination was that the chart on compnents was missing from the chart (but if this is true, what do I do?)m My second inclination was to base it on ship points, like you do when buying a ship hull, but there are lots of ship parts that don't cost anything in SP. I am sure that either I am reading the rules wrong or that other people have run into this problem with the book

Read page 228, EXTENDED REPAIRS. It gives times for repairs in the last two paragraphs. As far as costs are concerned, I think you will just roll for acquring the items as normal, and use the Extended Repair rules. I hope this helps.

I just let me characters repair or replace things easily at a port, and make a failed acquisition roll a subject for a mini-adventure, such as looting some elses ship, etc.

I know you make aquisition rolls based on you profit factor, but in order to do that you need to know what the availability of the different parts are. Imagine after a succesfull adventure the PC's want to replace their macrobatteries for better ones. Instalation is one thing buat actually aquiring them requires an aquisition roll. The book give penalties for ship parts based on what they do (weapons I think are like -30) but not all weapons are the same, Doesn't their need to be some sort of availability listing for ship componants. (The book says it is in the starshp chapter, but I can not find it)

Table 8-8: Component Costs and Availability, is on page 208. Essentially, ship components have an availability based on the SP they cost; Archaeotech and Xenotech components are rarer still, regardless of their SP cost.

Table 9-36: Starship Component Acquisitions on page 274 provides a set of additional modifiers based on component type, to be applied instead of scale (because you'll only ever be buying starship components one at a time, to you don't modify for scale as you would with personal equipment)

Thank you, I apparently WAS and idiot. I had read through the starship chapter like a hundred times an missed that chart every time. Thankyou
