When do I declare that i will use Gandalf the White special ability(The White Rider)?

Before the selection of combat cards or after?

After the revelation of the combat cards?

The White Rider ability is in effect (or not) for the entire battle. As such, its use must be declared before the battle begins, which is before the selection of combat cards.
