Some thoughts;
The New York meta is constantly honored by how many people tarvel so far at such expense to compete in this event. It was good to see old firends, reminisce about past contests and missing personalities (I actually called somofstarfall and Malkryad over the holiday weekedn - the tourney scene in teh East misses htem greatly) and continue to develop new relationships.
It was great seeing and talking to finitesqaure wolf and his crew - and Erick and I are committed to getting our number at the East Coast events over twenty. Given the growth of the card pool and the reintroduction of the Martells, this is an easily achievable goal. There are at least two more Ny players who should be back regularly when teh Martells hit - Kmac and Milamber. And maybe they will lure SoStarfall back to the scene.
Targaryen now has two disadvantgeous matchups - Baratheon and Greyjoy. Geez the Targ Fury Plot really sucks compared to what they get hit with. still - twn2dn demonstartes that theya re still very much a top House. Their recursive burn is probably the best control mechanic in the game - its better than kneel, given that its infinite. Teh difficulty comes in managing the resource curve - really you have to juggle gold + influence and it would be greta if a Fallow Fields type dual resource provider was available. Crossroads just doesn't quite cut it.
Lannister is still on top.
Treaty decks are strong at the moment, though if aggro decks got a little boost - I still suspect that (-) 5 power condition could really hurt them.
King's Landing could solve the draw problem for a couple of Houses - but as more peoplel start to play it, it will become less reliable.
Location control is more important than ever.
I'm still not convince there is enough cancel in the environment. 75% of the time decks will eb able to get their key effects off, unless you're facing greyjoy. Some character based event control would be welcome.
Thanks again to all who attended. The event was spectacular and the NY meta will enjoy the holiday season secure in the knowledge that the Black Friday Cup has returned home.
