Snow Graves

By Nomad, in CoC Rules Discussion

My apologies if this has been answered before, but I looked through the forum and could not find anything.

Snow Graves has the text: "Attach to a player's discard pile. Cards cannot be moved out of attached discard pile for any reason."

My question is can Snow Graves be attached to an empty discard pile, or does the discard pile have to have at least one card in it to be a legitimate target?

well without anything in it there is no discard pile, so wait till there is at least one card in it :)

Well I guess it kind of boils down to the question what exactly is the discard pile? Is it the cards themselves or is it where they go when they leave play? I realise it probably sounds like splitting hairs, but to deal with some really fast decks it makes a big difference as by the time anything actually hits the discard pile it is probably too late...

The FAQ says this about choosing targets (p1): "A player cannot trigger a card effect that requires him to choose a character, support card or story card if there is no such card to choose." It doesn't mention discard piles, but whether this is significant, I am not sure. Any thoughts anyone?

yes I see, your idea is like the "Hand". You have no "Hand" if you have no card in your hand. So you have no dicard pile if you have no card in your discard pile.

Here in France, we have always played the discard pile like the location where you put your cards when they leave play. So you have always a discard pile (even without cards into the pile).

yea true, i suppose you could always play it and thats where the discard pile will be ?

As I see it, there is always a discard pile as it is a game location whether or not cards are in it.

I think I agree with Dadajef and Bigshow. The discard pile exists whether or not there is anything in it and shall play that way, though I don't know how I would prove it if challenged by an opponent! happy.gif
