Pimp my Fox, yo...!

By Rockstar2, in UFS Deck Building

So...as a few others have noticed, Mitsu's support really help Steve Fox work a heckuva lot better at dual-symboling All and Fire. That's a great thing, although, it just may pigeon-hole Mr Fox into only one or two archtypes.

I'd love feedback as to how to optimize this particular build.

I have what i believe to be the best attack line-up possible for an All/Fire build. The idea was to make this deck 'feel' like a Boxer's deck: Throw 1 or 2 attack combos (Hammer of the Gods + Turn Thruster is pretty brutal) with plenty of speed and damage pump to make sure they connect. Then, with Gut Drill in hand and two momentum...'Bob and Weave' with his damage redux ability and 'Counter Punch' with the Drill on opponent's turn.

So far, this has worked out according to plan. Sure, Steve Fox still dies a little on the inside when Pommel Smash is played, but so do many other decks.

So, that being said, i present to you Dual-Symbol Steve Fox:

1x Steve Fox

2x All/Fire Character Cards

Actions (3):

3x 2/5 Misty Step

Assets (3):

3x 2/5 Path of the Master

Attacks (16):

4x 5/3 Gut Drill

4x 5/3 Hammer of the Gods

4x 5/3 Tandoya

4x 4/2 Turn Thruster

Foundations (35):

3x 3/5 Bloodline Rebellion

4x 2/5 For the Money

4x 2/5 Inhuman Speed

3x 2/5 Best Friends

3x 2/5 Defeated the Rifle

3x 2/5 Body of Souls

3x 2/5 Financial Troubles

4x 1/5 The Strength Within

4x 2/5 Looking for a Thrill

4x 1/4 Ancient Fighting Style

So...As i stated, the idea is to spam foundations T1, and start throwing down T2. There is enough draw in this deck (Bloodline Rebellion, Financial Troubles and PotM combo) that Steve Fox generally has the attacks he needs. Enough speed and damage pump in this deck to make Inhuman Speed a star player, esp with Misty Step.

Gut Drill is so key in this deck. Even vs Torn Hero, this cards shortens my opponent's turn significantly, and commits out Torn Hero for my kill turn.

Looking for a Thrill is simply ridiculous, esp considering that Steve Fox's floating speed pump triggers this card the moment he plays an attack. Again, combo'd with Inhuman Speed makes setting up Kill that much easier.

Thank you in advance for reading and commenting!

Steve Fox is soo much beter than Paul.

Have you considered Wonderworld Comics? Paul's Gi?

Path is pretty much a staple, hands down, but Paul's Gi is so universal and easy, and Wonderworld pretty much makes Steve's job even easier :D

Thanks for the early Replys y'allz...

@ magicmint...yeah, i like Mr. Fox a bit better than Mr. Phoenix as well. I wouldn't say he's so much better tho', just different. And, better suited for my play-style than Paul (too much of a one-trick pony, imo).

@ MarcoPulleaux...hey bro...yea, i had considered Paul's Gi and Wonderworld Comics. However, i am a little hesitant to add any other Assets, as i tend to find that Assets actually slow down most decks (even tho' once they're successfully played they can potentially speed up kill, but on the NEXT turn). However, should i opt to add either one, what would you replace in my current deck to make room? I really don't want to run more than 60 cards, and right now it's at 59 + Starting Character, which is pretty optimal for this kind of deck, imo.

Oh, and i realize that Looking for a Thrill is a 2/4 foundation, not a 2/5. My bad.

First off, rename your thread "Fantastic Mr Fox". Much more suitable :D

Second, when it comes to adding in possible Gi and/or Wonderworld...

Possible candidates:

1. Inhuman Speed: you run 4, when in reality, you only need 2 or 3. It doesn't even have a block, and it's not like you're running Controller of Souls to really ditch it.
2. Best Friends: Yes, it's usable and is also themed, but isn't a necessity, especially when, IMO, Looking for a Thrill and The Strength Within both beat it.
3. Body of Souls: Once again, I can see where it becomes abusable in re-using Punches, but it's a slowER card, has no block, and kinda goes against Steve's OTHER E.
4. Ancient Fighting Style: Until you start running The Ultimate Team, you don't need this card.

Speaking of which, wtf? Get your 3-4 copies of The Ultimate Team in this *****!

But yeah, that's my advice.

I agree, Steve Fox is pretty fantastic right now. Lots of new toys with Mitsu's support.

1. Inhuman speed is a 4 of because i want to see it as early as possible. I think it's that crucial. I will try running it as a 3-of and see what the what.

2. Best Friends is in there to really combo with Gut Drill on my opponent's turn. The fact that i can play it on my turn for either increasing my Stun attacks Stun Rating or give my Stun attack a +2 dmg pump only make the card that much better.

3. Body of Souls is in the deck just for the what you said: Being able to recur punches from momentum is HUGE, especially Gut Drills. Y'see...hand control/discard has presence in my Meta: Kisheri and Nina Williams...and now Yoshi running around making folk pitch cards...I like being able to have a Gut Drill in hand every Turn.

4. Ancient FIghting Style still combos well with Hammer of the Gods...although i would probably move this to side board in favor of Pauls Gi, should i get any.

Thanks again for the help, MP. I appreciate it! gran_risa.gif

I would consider something like

3xpotm

3xPauls Gi

2x Wonderworld for your asset setup if available

Cut the 2 char cards, the deck runs too tight to afford those I think, at 59 cards, every card you draw you need to be able to play. And Cut best friends for Pauls Gi, that will help your reversal gut drills even more, with less cost and a more playable block. Wonderworld will more then makeup for the defesne lost by the char blocks.

I would also cut mist stance, it gives you a minimal benefit, even on your kill turn, while clogging up your cardpool, consider Ultimate Team for synergy with Ancient fighting style, or Battle Tested for Two-Way card draw. If you go with Battle Tested you could bring Best Friend back in place of Ancient fighting style.

I'm saying a lot but Ithink the framework for the deck is incredibly solid, and the new stuff will just help it out.

Those are good suggestions, man.

I'm looking for even one copy of Paul's Gi, as i don't have any at the moment. I think i would replace Best Friends with the Gi, fo sho.

And, yea, i currently have 2 Ultimate Teams and am looking for 1 more. Should i get it, i would replace the character blocks with 3 copies of The Ultimate Team, in a heart beat.

RE: Mist Stance...what might you suggest instead? I think i'd want a playable action that DOES something. How about Ascending Zephyr?
