I'm disappointed that FFG has still not commented on how they plan to address this problem. I really don't want to be "that guy," but I am holding off on purchasing Path of the Zealot for now...
Skavenblight cards smaller than cards from core set...!
Does it really matter ? Not in my opinion, cards are all still playable, life continues, snow still falls.
Alright. I finally unsleeved my cards to do a REAL close inspection as one of the players at my league commented on it.
There IS a difference. All the Core Set cards are cut the same. All Battlepack cards are cut the same, but smaller than the Core Set (Skavenblight and Path of the Zealot).
The difference is definitely not noticeable when sleeved, but if you are not using sleeves, the difference is VERY noticeable. The difference in card size is very, very small, but enough to affect shuffling when playing unsleeved.
When you compare a Core Set vs Battlepack card, put them back to back, then flatten them on a surface sideways (As if reading a Quest card). You can see the difference at the top (make sure you are looking at the right side aka not the larger card cuz you wont see a difference!)
It is my opinion that every Core Set vs Battlepack comparison will result in card size mismatches. Anyone who says that their cards are size the same, probably didn't do a very close inspection. I am at fault for this as I originally though my cards were sized the same as well.
Perhaps the only people that can say there really is no difference are people who have purchased Core Sets that are newer print and presumably printed and cut from the same source as the Battlepacks.
I have now also done a REAL close inspection on my cards. And im sad to that there is a differense. What i can se (i used a ruler) the difference is betwene 1/10 - 1/5 mm.
I play without card sleeves and with the decks im using i cant tell the core from the expansion cards . The reason is that the incresed friction from wear, makes it imposslibe to line upp the cards enough for me to spot them (i might have a chance to spot them if i manually press them together and hold them up 20cm from my eyes, but which opponent wuld alow that?). I have made an experiment with cards i haven't used (thus not worn), and i can tell the core and the expansion cards appart, if i look real close. (They are more noticable if they come in chunks)
My Cards from skavenblight are also slightly smaller then the core set cards. Just ever so slightly, its hardly noticeable during a game. I guess "hardly" would be if someone had super extra magnifying binocular glasses on as well.
Just bought a second Core Set, (for my son), from Funagain, and yes, these Core set cards are also larger than the Skavenblight and Zealot BP cards. So I'm 2 for 2 on Core sets...
Yep my skavenblight threat cards are also slightly smaller too. it definately affects shuffling unless you riffle shuffle. yes it is annoying that they cant get this fundamental card aspect right in such an otherwise well produced game. Unfortunately i suspect you can expect the same issue in the next few battlepacks too....
for me its not as annoying as the cards that were actually chosen to be in the pack though...
Just bought the game yesterday and really enjoyed it. Decided to buy the two expansion packs today. The base game's cards are larger. Since I don't use sleeves it is a slight bummer.
I Was jus given this post. Count me in with my card ranging from slightly to very noticable. Oh well.

I don't use sleeves either and the advice I've been given so far is "use sleeves". Which I'm not keen to do.
I put my cards in binder pages last night and I now thinks its the core set cards that are the problem. The core set cards are almost too big for the pages, the corruption cycle cards fit great.

"Just got a response back from Thaadd at FFG about this:
'It has come to our attention that a portion of the Skavenblight print run has some cards that are slightly off in size, after examining the cards in question we have determined that the difference is very minor and does not effect game play. If it is something that you feel strongly about and wish to have the cards replaced we understand. If that is the case simply send us the card pack you have the issue with and we will send you a replacement.'
I'll be sending mine back, because I know it'll bother me every time I play... "

There is something off here.
My skavenblight and zealot battlepacks are the same size. My core set is bigger than both.
Secondly, both of the battle packs match the size of my AGoT core set.
Lastly, I don't sleeve my cards so shuffling the core set with expansion cards has now become a pain! Yes, gameplay isn't effected, but shuffling is.
I agree with you lopsided. Something isn't right. I've sent FFG a message mentioning this fact, and asking if they are going to replace my Zealot cards as well. We shall see what the answer is...
Finally got my Path of the Zealot today. After a quick comparison, I'll add my name to the list of people whose Skavenblight and Path of the Zealot cards are the same size, but Core Set are bigger. If the trend continues, will that mean Core is the odd man out?
I've been saying that almost since the getgo.
And it would be cheaper for FFG to replace our core sets (approx $30), rather than all six battlepacks, if the trend continues (approx $60)...
Yay! [/sarcasm]
Add me to the list of people who got funky stuff. I am enamorred with the LCG format but this is the second major screwup in two different LCG games.
The first being buying three copies of the Call of Cthulhu core set, only to find that two of the core sets have 3 identical packs of cards in each core set. Thats a total of 6 identical card packs. Emailed FFG regaring it and got a form letter stating how backed up they are dealing with various other issues. Add to that misalignment of various cards when cut , and its $80 down the drain so far.
Now I buy the W:I coreset and a couple expansions and .... smaller cards. I am not even sure emailing them will get any benefit from this since its been a week since I last emailed them and have heard nothing other than the automated reply from Thaadd.
I will say if this doesnt get resolved, I will not be buying anymore FFG products again. Which is sad becaus I am a fanboy of their company, but $80 for CoC LCG screwups and now another $60 in W:I LCG screwups cannot be tolerated. Normally their Customer service represented by Thaadd is exemplary, but this is getting quite tiresome to wonder if I buy a product and it is going to be a dud. Game roulette? Not anymore, thanks.
I am a very sad panda because of this.
omg, you can hardly even tell. People are getting way bent out of shape over a very minor size difference. If this is the big issue in your life, consider yourself very very fortunate.
I support you Hellfury. Take heart! I would assume that the COC issue will get sorted out at some point.
I don't have any hope that the WH:I size issue will get resolved to our liking, though.
I just bought mine today in Canada. All 3 Skavenblight sets are smaller than my Core set. Guess the issue has not been resolved, yet. Some people are saying this isn't an issue. That may be so for friendly games, but I'm sure someone at a tournament is going to say something when you stack your Skavenblight sets in and it can be visibly seen that there are size discrepancies.
If the players sleeve their cards, like most tournaments players do, that won't be an issue.
I understand though, that there are players who dislike using the sleeves.

That is almost the exact reply I received to my inquiry. FFG is only willing to replace product if it is returned at the customer's expense. I will play my cards sleeved with a third party product when people complain and unsleeved when playing against those who do not.
That said, I love the game mechanics and will continue to buy the monthly expansions...for the foreseeable future, at least. I am anxious for the deluxe expansion so I can stop proxying the Chaos board for a Dark Elf board in my Dark Elf/Skaven deck. My dwarf deck is a close second favourite.
