UK Release and Prices

By GhostBlue, in Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay

Hi everyone, has anyone got a copy of WFRP 3rd Edition yet her in the UK. Does anyone know of shops or online stores that will get stock first??

I have found a few places that are allowing pre-orders some say stock 27th Nov, 30th Nov and Amazon.co.uk 5th Jan 2010!!!!!!

www.play.com has WFRP for pre-order at £54.99 inc Delivery!!!!!

www.black-lion.co.uk/node/1349 has a pre-order deal for the Core Game Set, the Adventures Pack & Dice Pack all for £85.

Post your updates here UK Fans......

It's not yet available in the UK. Assuming typical release delays, it will probably be solicited by distributors for next week, likely weds-thurs in stores or the following week.

The Toolkit and dice aren't yet in stores in the US so figure 1-2 weeks after they become available in the US for them to reach UK stores. As such that pre-order from Black Lion could see you waiting a while longer than expected for your box set and extra gubbins.

Correction to the above. A limited amount will be in the UK next week/week after to be shipped to game stores only. Amazon, Play etc. won't be getting their copies until probably the end of the year/into 2010.

I got an email from Maelstrom Games UK today.

They informed that the items I was asking for (warhammer) was to be expected in stock around the 12 of december. Meaning if I am lucky I will have it for christmassad.gif

Mal the norwegian dude.

The dates maelstrom put on their websites is very accurate, so late december was what I was expecting anyway from them.

Esdevium and leisure games have it down for release next week.

Esdevium games lists it at the frankly ripoff price of £80

Leisure games lists its as the far more realistic price of £65

I really hope esdevium there prices eventually coz theres no **** way i'll ever pay £80 for this game unless they throw in the adventurers guide aswell.

If it's primarily £80 in the UK it could easily tank. Way too much in one hit. Ye better hope that Amazon and the like discount it, though they will be to the detrement of the game stores

You do realize that Esdevium Games is the main distributor for RPG's and boardgames in Europe and not a shop. Their price is the RRP for their customers which includes Leisure Games who are offering it at a discount (to compete with on-line retailers, I suspect).

yup i realise that and hate the fact that because they have the monopoly on rpg distro in the uk they think they can take the piss and ramp up the exchange rates to way above the real rates then not lower them once the rates stabilised again hense there frankly pathetic price of £80 for this boxset instead of the actual price it should be of £70 max, this is the real reason why most stores are taking a major loss on each boxset and charging way below esdeviums prices...leisure games should set up a rvial distro company imo and run esdevium outta business(or at least show them the error of there ways).

Out of curiosity, what exactly is stopping UK players from ordering the Core Set from Amazon US, if the price difference is that high? I live in Poland, and have no problem with ordering books from them. Does the fact that Amazon has an UK division make you unable to order from the US one by some policy of theirs?

The gamble with ordering from the US comes with UK import duty and, should you be hit at customs for it, the overpriced Royal Mail costs to then deliver the product.

If the order went through without import/additional costs, then it would be significantly cheaper. If you got hit with import duty and the royal mail costs it can come out higher than the UK stores. Why the Royal Mail charge an extra fee to deliver in this circumstance I have no idea, but they're able to get away with it being another monopoly.

What you mentioned above goes for my country as well Norway.

I risk a hefty custom tax if its labelled as toys and not books.

there is no custom tax for books. I have figured that in worst case scenario I will pay as much as 45 £ extra in taxes. It sucks to live in the most expensive country in the world and not having a stable income. sad.gif

well but nothing are going to destroy my good mood. Warhammer is coming hurray!!!

Just to nit pick on your statement, Mal. (FireFly FTW)

There is actually no customs tax on either product, there is however no VAT added to books (25% in Norway). VAT is however added to all other products.

Couldn't help myself commenting since I work with this stuff lengua.gif

@Twonky: Anything else then books will get a custom fee in Norway if its above 200kr £19, thats a fact.

If the shipment is not labeled books, and they open the box up to see what it is, they will se fiddely bits and custom fee it for about 250kr + 125 extra in tax.

Norway do not however pay VAT version as its all handled within our own border in the Norwegian Customs.

VAT is one of my gripes for the format of 3rd edition. As not purely a book, I imagine VAT will be applied and I would be surprised if you didn't fall foul of customs if you try importing from the US to the UK.

That's not a customs tax, Kjetil. It's the VAT added to the cost and there's offcousrse a customs handling fee. Roughly 200 NOK if I remember correctly.

There are very few items that have a customs tax applied to it. Womens lingerie is an example (10.7% customs tax).

There is a diffrence between Value Added Tax and Customs Tax.

I Went into my FLGS this morning and they had one copy in. I am now the proud owner of WFRP 3rd ed for £65. It seems most stores are marking up at 80 RRP but selling at 65 at the moment not sure if this will be permanent though.
