Button UI layout in Road To Legend App

By Dreepa, in Descent: Journeys in the Dark

Hi,

I just wanted to get something off my chest here. Working in games dev, I ve seen a lot of UIs that have issues. Therefore I just wanted to pass along that the following button layout is terribad. Please don't do it. :)

Unless there is an UNDO function, like a backspace key for a touch-keyboard to correct misses, you should never arrange buttons that imply a final decision in such a close proximity to each other. It increases the likehood of erroneous input and thus frustration.

Now if you have an undo function or extra confirmation dialogue too, that would also work of course.

Cheers,

I hope we get keyboard shortcuts for the pc version for use in voice command software such as voiceattack. Then it could be hands free.

To be honest, I think that UI looks terrible just from a graphical standpoint as well.

Doesn't seem on the level of quality that FFG normally has in its manuals/artwork

I think it's done in unity, even getting this far with the UI deserves some praise. ;)

Well some gorgeous games made in unity, it's not an excuse.

Usually cancel button is on the right side, and buttons like "OK" on the left side. I really hope there would be hotkeys in PC version

Yeah, no. I know people that work with Unity daily (I've worked in game development myself, but not mobile), it's not that hard.

The majority of mobile games are made with Unity nowadays, and many look better than this. So it's really no excuse.

I gotta say you bring up a good point, this concerns me more than the graphical quality of the app. Will the font be easy to read and equally important, will there indeed be a backspace/undo feature that lets you backtrack a bit if you mistakenly press a button or catch a mistake during turns.

Seems to me that feature should be a top priority!

I don't mind about it, it is free hahaha if I would had to pay for it, then surely I will worry about it. I also don't like it haha

This is something I didn't see it coming, well, I hope I won't comit any mistake or I will have a hard time apologizing everyone I screwed up hahahaha

Maybe it will have a safe function?
