Best way to clear the board?

By divinityofnumber, in 2. AGoT Rules Discussion

Hi everyone,

I am wondering what the best way to clear the board is when playing with the Core Set and House Stark? I see the little boy that allows you to flip a new plot card, and the Board-sweeping plot card, but cannot figure out the best way to do this.

In the games I have played so far, every time I sweep the board, I am left with a claim of 0, and then I get sort of wrecked after my opponent drops a bunch of new baddies during marshalling. The little kid can noly be kneeled for a new plot card during the plot phase.....

Is there some trick I am not seeing that will allow me to clear the board, and also end up with a new plot card that actually has a claim value?

Yes.

The plot phase looks like this:

1. Begin Phase.

2. Player Actions

3. Reveal Plots (includes counting initiative, selecting First Player and resolving plot cards)

4. Player Actions

5. End Phase.

As you describe it, you are using Bran at #4 to reveal Valar and clear the board - after revealing the normal plot for the round. Effective, but that leaves you with Valar for the rest of the round.

If you instead use Bran in #2 (completely legal) to clear the board BEFORE your opponent(s) also reveal plots, you will still get to reveal your normal plot for the phase in #3. Then THAT becomes the plot you have for the rest of the round.
